Clear Pricing Means Happy Floors
Spring is officially here, but we also know what’s right around the corner... Tax Season. While everyone is crunching numbers and looking for those extra deductions, the last thing you want is a "surprise" bill when it comes to fixing up your home.
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we believe that beautiful home floors shouldn't come with a side of price confusion. We know that when it involves your hard-earned cash—especially this time of year—transparency is everything. That’s why we strive to be as open as possible about our pricing before we even step through your front door!
No Secrets, Just Solutions
We realize that every carpet ripple and pet-chewed corner is unique! Because there are many variables, we strive to provide an approximate quote before arriving to complete any work. Whether it’s over the phone, via email, or on-site, we want you to feel confident in your investment.
To give you a head start on your spring cleaning budget, here is a general idea for pricing on average-sized areas:
| Service Type | General Pricing Range* |
|---|---|
| Stretch Area (Under 200 sq. ft.) | $75 – $100 per room |
| Carpet Patch | $45 – $150 per patch |
| Stretch Hallway | $50 – $75 per hallway |
| Carpet Seam | Starting at $50 |
Note: Minimum charges apply. Prices can fluctuate depending on room dimensions, layout, seams, and the amount of furniture we need to move!
The "Exact Estimate" Promise
Since your home’s layout is as individual as you are, we will always give an exact estimate on-site before beginning any work. This eliminates any "price-tag anxiety" and helps us provide the reputable, honest service we’re known for. No hidden fees, no mystery surcharges—just great looking carpets!
How to Get a "To-The-Penny" Quote
If you’d like a closer estimate before we arrive, you can help us by providing a few details via phone or email:
- Full Room Dimensions: (Length x Width) – Give us the "big picture!"
- The "Project List": How many areas, hallways, or stairs? Does any padding need replacing?
- The Math: How many lineal feet of seam work is needed?
- Example: A 2’x2’ patch would be 2+2+2+2 = 8 lineal feet of seam work!
Peace of Mind for Your Pocketbook
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we want to make your home-improvement journey as joyful and stress-free as possible. By being transparent with our numbers, we help you plan your spring projects without any financial hiccups. Whether you're getting ready to sell or just want to get rid of that "tripping hazard" in the hallway, we’re here to help you save your carpet (and your sanity!).
A repaired carpet can last for years longer, saving you thousands compared to a full replacement. Now that's a smart tax-season investment! Don't let carpet wrinkles get you down! Let’s get those floors smoothed out so you can focus on more important things—like where you're going to spend your tax refund.

How We Work Our Magic on Stair Carpet Repairs
Who do you call when you want to step your step game up? If your house is anything like the ones we visit, your stairs are probably the busiest "highway" in your home. Between the kids racing down for breakfast, the dog doing zoomies, and the countless trips up and down with laundry baskets, those poor stairs take a beating!
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we often see stairs that are starting to look a little "tired"—maybe there’s a stubborn stain, a frayed edge from a playful kitty, or that dreaded "loose carpet" that makes you feel like you’re on a slip-and-slide. Don't worry! You don't need a total replacement to make your staircase look brand new again. In this article we will cover how our pros repair carpet on stairs!
Common Stairway Struggles
Stairs are tricky because the carpet has to be tightly molded around the "tread" (the part you step on) and the "riser" (the vertical part). Common issues we fix include:
- Frayed "Noses": The front edge of the step often wears out first.
- Pet Damage: Cats love using the corner of a step as a scratching post!
- Loose Bubbles: Carpet that has pulled away from the tack strip, creating a tripping hazard.
- Permanent Stains: Spilled coffee or juice that just won't budge.
Our Stair-Repair Toolbox: How We Do It
When we arrive at your home, we treat every step like a work of art. Here is our "step-by-step" (pun intended!) process:
The "Precision Patch" (Permanent Sectioning)
If you have a burn or a permanent stain on one specific step, we don't have to replace the whole flight! We use a technique called Permanent Sectioning. We take a piece of matching carpet (from a remnant or a hidden corner of a closet) and seamlessly swap out the damaged area. When we’re done, you won’t even know it was there!
Re-Stretching for Safety
Is your stair carpet looking wavy or loose? That’s more than an eyesore; it’s a safety risk! We use specialized tools like knee kickers and power stretchers to pull that carpet tight and secure it firmly to the tack strips.
Tuck & Trim
The "Tuck" in Nip & Tuck is our specialty! We ensure the carpet is tucked perfectly into the "crotch" of the stair (where the riser meets the tread) for a crisp, professional look that stays put.
Pro-Tip: The "Remnant" Secret
Nip & Tuck Wisdom: Always keep your carpet scraps! If you have leftovers from your original installation, keep them in a cool, dry place. Those scraps are like gold when it comes to making a flawless, invisible repair on a high-traffic staircase.
"Stairs are the centerpiece of many homes. A quick 'Nip' here and a 'Tuck' there can extend the life of your carpet by years and keep your family safe!"
Ready to Give Your Stairs a Fresh Start?
Don't let frayed edges or loose carpet bring down the vibe of your home. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we take pride in the details so you can walk up and down with total confidence and a smile!

Refresh Your Hotel’s Carpet in January
The ornaments are packed away, the New Year’s champagne has been toasted, and the frantic rush of holiday travelers is finally starting to wind down. Phew! You did it. But as the lobby quiets down, you might be noticing something the tinsel was hiding: your carpets have seen a lot of action.
Hosting thousands of guests each week is no small feat—it’s a 24/7 marathon! We know that keeping a hotel or restaurant looking "five-star" is a full-time job. And while we recognize that most Denver businesses have incredibly skilled maintenance managers, carpet repair is a specialized craft. Often, even the best DIY-expert on your staff doesn't have the specific tools or expertise it takes to perform long-term, seamless carpet repairs. That’s where Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair steps in! Think of us as your hotel's personal carpet "surgeons."
Common Post-Holiday "Hangovers" We Fix
After a busy season of rolling suitcases and heavy foot traffic, your floors might be showing these signs of stress:
- The "Hallway Wave": Are there ripples or wrinkles in your long corridors or entryways? This is a major tripping hazard for guests. We use professional power-stretching to pull that carpet tight again.
- Transition Trouble: Where carpet meets tile or wood, things can get frayed or loose. We fix those transitions to keep them smooth and safe.
- The Mystery Stain: Whether it was a spilled cocktail or a muddy boot, some stains just won't budge.
The "Secret Patch" Magic
One of the biggest concerns for hotel managers is: "I don't have extra carpet to fix that hole!" Don't worry—we are experts at the "hidden swap."
Pro-Tip: Patchwork is often needed in hotels, and it can be done seamlessly by using matching carpet from unseen areas. We can take a small piece from under a bed or deep inside a desk nook to repair a high-visibility area in the middle of the room. Your guests will never know! 🤫
Why January is Your Carpet’s Best Friend
| Benefit | Why Act Now? |
|---|---|
| Lower Occupancy | We can repair rooms and hallways without disturbing peak-season guests. |
| Safety First | Fixing wrinkles now prevents accidents during the rest of 2026. |
| Budget Friendly | A repair is a fraction of the cost of a full floor replacement! |
| Professional Finish | Our repairs are designed to last, not just "get you through the week." |
Let Us Help You Maintain Your Five-Star Standard
You focus on the guest experience; let us focus on the ground beneath their feet! Nip & Tuck has helped countless hotels and restaurants get their floors back into ship-shape, ensuring every guest's first impression is a crisp, clean, and professional one.
Now that the "holiday storm" has passed, let's take advantage of the quiet and get your property looking its absolute best for the year ahead.

New Year, New Floors
The leftovers are gone, the tree is twinkling, and your carpet has officially survived another holiday season. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we’re stepping into the new year with a heart full of gratitude. But as we pack away the decorations and dream about resolutions, one thing’s for sure: nothing says fresh start quite like beautifully repaired, perfectly stretched carpet.
Let’s talk about why now is the perfect time to give your home a clean slate — from the ground up.
A Wrinkle-Free Start to the Year
Remember those little carpet ripples you’ve been ignoring all year? The ones you keep tripping on while carrying laundry? Yeah… those.
January is your moment to let them go! Our carpet stretching services smooth out every ripple and buckle, making your floors look like they were just installed — without the cost or chaos of replacing them.
And if your New Year’s resolution involves avoiding stubbed toes, this might just check that box too.
Patch Up the Past Year’s “Oops” Moments
Between pets, kids, and dropped hot cocoa, we know carpet takes a beating during the holidays. Luckily, we specialize in repairing all those tiny (and not-so-tiny) imperfections.
Got a burn mark from last year’s candle incident? A corner chewed by your furry family member? Or a spot where a Christmas decoration met an unfortunate end? Don’t worry — Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair can fix it all with seamless precision.
Your carpet deserves a little self-care too.
Save Big, Stress Less
We’re still thankful for the incredible clients who’ve trusted us to restore their homes — like Marian, Joann, and Chad, who reminded us that repair often beats replacement every time.
Our clients know that a simple stretch or patch can save hundreds (sometimes thousands), all while extending the life of your existing carpet. That’s money you can put toward something much more fun — like a vacation, a fancy dinner, or maybe just a really nice pair of slippers to enjoy your “new” floors in.
Gratitude Looks Good on You (and Your Home)
As we head into 2026, we can’t say it enough — we’re thankful for every home we’ve stepped into, every repair we’ve made, and every happy client who’s trusted us to help keep their homes cozy and beautiful.
So whether your floors need a little nip, a quick tuck, or a full-on rescue, we’re here to make it happen — with professionalism, precision, and a smile.
Let’s Make 2026 the Year of Happy Floors
Carpets shouldn’t sag into the new year carrying last year’s problems. Let’s smooth, patch, and perfect them so your home feels as fresh and bright as your resolutions.
From all of us at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, thank you for an amazing year — and here’s to wrinkle-free floors, repaired seams, and cozy, happy homes in the year ahead.

Thankful For Great Floors and Happy Homes
This is usually that time of year people start realizing that, yes, we do have a lot to be thankful for. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, gratitude runs deep — and not just because we get to work with amazing clients (though that’s a big part of it). We’re thankful for every rip, ripple, and mystery carpet situation that gives us a chance to make someone’s home feel whole again. Because when we fix what’s under your feet, it makes life feel just a little smoother — literally!
This month, we’re especially grateful for our clients who’ve shared their experiences and reminded us why we love what we do. Let’s take a peek at what they had to say (and what you can enjoy too).
We’re Thankful for Fresh Starts — and Freshly Repaired Carpet
Marian D. told us,
“Jerry did such a great, thorough job! The carpet looks beautiful, we should have had the work done years ago.”
We couldn’t agree more, Marian! It’s amazing how a stretched or repaired carpet can breathe new life into a room. Whether it’s ripples that make you trip or seams that just won’t stay down, we’re here to turn those frustrating flaws into flawless floors.
So, if you’ve been thinking “We should’ve done this years ago,” — take Marian’s advice. There’s no better time than now to call Nip & Tuck and start loving your carpet again.
We’re Thankful for the Small Fixes That Make a Big Difference
Joann M. from Henderson, CO shared,
“The individual who came to patch up a few of our vents did an amazing job. I also ended up having him stretch an area of carpet and everything turned out great!”
We love hearing stories like this — because sometimes it’s the little things that make a huge impact. Whether it’s a patch around a vent, a pet-damaged corner, or a stretch to smooth out a trouble spot, those quick repairs can make your carpet look brand-new again.
And bonus? It’s often way more affordable than replacement. That’s definitely something to be thankful for!
We’re Thankful for Repair Results That Save Carpets (and Wallets)
Chad S. from Highlands Ranch, CO said,
“I am very pleased with the results and the attention to detail in making the repairs so effective. I'm so happy that we won't have to replace the damaged carpet due to these wonderful repair results.”
Now that right there is the dream — saving a carpet that others might think is a goner. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we specialize in smart, effective fixes that extend the life of your floors and save you the cost (and chaos) of full replacement.
We’re thankful for the tools, the training, and the trust of clients like Chad who let us do what we do best — bring carpets back to life.
Let’s Give Thanks for Home Sweet Home
From smoothing wrinkles to patching problem spots, our team is thankful to help keep Colorado homes cozy, clean, and comfortable.
So as you gather around the table this season, maybe take a moment to look down — at the floors that have seen laughter, spilled gravy, kids’ crafts, and countless memories. And if those floors could use a little TLC, you know who to call.
From all of us at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, thank you for trusting us with your homes, your carpets, and your comfort. We’re grateful beyond words — and we can’t wait to keep helping you fall in love with your floors again.

How to Handle Candy Carpet Catastrophes
Fall is the time of year when pumpkins appear on every porch, candy corn fills every bowl, and someone (usually under four feet tall) inevitably grinds chocolate into the living room carpet.
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we know this season can be rough on your floors. Between Halloween parties, sugar-fueled movie marathons, and the occasional taffy incident that defies gravity, your carpets take a beating this time of year. But don’t worry — we’ve got your back (and your floors). Here’s how to tackle those sticky, sweet disasters before they turn into permanent decorations — and when to call in the pros to save your carpet from a sticky, sugary fate.
Chocolate—The Sneaky Stain That Won’t Quit
Chocolate’s great until it melts — and carpet fibers love to hold on tight. But you can outsmart it!
Here’s how:
- Cool it first. Pop an ice cube in a plastic bag and let it sit on the chocolate until it hardens.
- Scrape it off gently. Use a dull knife or spoon to lift the dried bits (no smearing!).
- Mix up a mild cleaning potion. Combine a teaspoon of dish soap with two cups of warm water.
- Blot, don’t scrub. Dip a cloth into the mix and dab the stain until it fades.
- Rinse and dry. Pat with clean water, then towel it dry.
If the chocolate still laughs in your face after all that effort — don’t stress. Nip & Tuck’s carpet pros are basically chocolate’s worst nightmare.
Taffy, Caramel & Other Sticky Situations
If chocolate is sneaky, taffy is downright clingy. It’s the kind of stain that stretches your patience and your carpet fibers.
Here’s what to do:
- Freeze it solid. Yep, ice cubes again! Cold taffy is easier to remove than gooey taffy.
- Chip away. Use a spoon or dull knife to carefully scrape off the candy bits.
- Mix up your vinegar rescue formula. Combine one part white vinegar with three parts warm water.
- Apply and blot. Gently dab the area until the sticky residue gives up.
- Rinse clean. Blot with plain water and dry with a towel.
If you’ve tried it all and your carpet still feels like a sticky mess — we can unstick that situation in no time.
Colorful Candy Dye Drama
Skittles, jelly beans, and lollipops — fun to eat, terrible to clean. Those bright colors aren’t just for show; they’re packed with dyes that love your carpet way too much.
Here’s how to fade the rainbow:
- Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water and a drop of mild dish soap.
- Dab gently (no rubbing!) with a white cloth, swapping towels as the color transfers.
If your “cleanup” starts looking like abstract art and your carpet is beyond saving, it’s time to bring in the experts at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair — we’ll handle it with precision and care.
Why Speed Matters (and When to Call Us)
Sugar and dyes are sneaky — they sink into fibers faster than you can say “just one more piece.” The quicker you act, the better your chances of saving the carpet.
But if you discover a candy fossil days later (hey, it happens), don’t panic. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we have specialized tools and techniques to repair damaged fibers and restore your carpet like nothing ever happened.
Candy Treats and Carpet Rescues
The candy season should be about fun — not floor frustration. Whether it’s chocolate smudges, caramel globs, or rainbow sugar splatters, Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair can help repair the aftermath so you can focus on enjoying the season (and maybe sneak a few pieces of leftover candy yourself).
So go ahead — celebrate, snack, and relax. If things get sticky, you know who to call.

Stretch It Out
Football season is in full swing, and for most of us that means more couch time looking at athletes that can move and stretch their bodies in ways we can only dream of. Speaking of stretching, how’s your carpet? It should be cozy, soft, and flat. But over time, life happens—furniture moves, humidity does its thing, and suddenly your once-smooth floor looks like it’s auditioning for a role as a wavy potato chip. Yikes.
That’s where Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair comes in. We’re the wrinkle-fighting, ripple-busting pros who bring your carpet back to its smooth, snug glory. But how do you know it’s time to call us? Glad you asked.
Signs Your Carpet is Begging for a Stretch
- Ripples That Look Like Mini Speed Bumps
If your living room feels like a skate park for Hot Wheels, that’s your carpet telling you it needs help. Ripples don’t just look bad—they can become tripping hazards. - Loose, Baggy Spots
Carpets should hug the floor, not sag like an old sweater. If yours looks loose or bubbly, stretching is in order. - Furniture Won’t Sit Right
Ever noticed your couch or coffee table wobbling even though the floor is level? Carpet ripples can throw things off balance—literally. - Corners That Lift or Curl
If your carpet corners are trying to “escape,” they need professional stretching before things unravel (pun totally intended). - Visible Seams or Gaps
When seams start showing or separating, it’s like your carpet is flashing its underpants. A solid stretch can bring those seams back together.
Why Professional Stretching Matters
DIY carpet stretching is about as successful as trying to cut your own bangs—possible, but usually regrettable. Our pros at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair have the right tools, techniques, and magic touch to:
- Smooth out ripples and wrinkles.
- Extend the life of your carpet.
- Prevent accidents (because tripping on your way to the fridge at midnight is not fun).
Smooth Floors, Happy Toes
Don’t wait until your carpet waves at you every time you walk by. A professional stretch will not only improve how your home looks but also how safe and comfortable it feels. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we make carpets behave. One call, and your floor goes from bumpy ride to smooth operator.

Why Does Carpet Need to Be Stretched
Picture this: you’re walking through your living room, latte in hand, when suddenly your carpet tries to trip you like a mischievous sibling. Yep—that unsightly ripple or bubble in your flooring isn’t just ugly, it’s a safety hazard waiting to happen. That, friends, is when your carpet is screaming: “Stretch me, please!”
So, why does carpet even need to be stretched in the first place? Let’s roll out the answers (pun very much intended).
Why Carpets Get Loosey-Goosey
Carpets don’t start life lumpy. They start tight, smooth, and ready to show off. But over time, life happens:
- Heavy foot traffic: Your carpet gets a workout every single day. All that pressure eventually makes it lose its grip.
- Humidity & temperature changes: Just like your hair on a hot day in July, carpets expand and contract with the weather.
- Furniture shuffle: Dragging that couch across the room might’ve seemed like a good idea—until your carpet said otherwise.
- Improper installation: If the carpet wasn’t power-stretched properly when it was installed, it’s going to sag sooner than later.
When the carpet loosens, you’ll see ripples, lumps, and waves—basically, your floor looks like it’s trying to surf.
Why Stretching Matters
A stretched carpet isn’t just prettier, it’s safer and longer-lasting. Think of stretching like giving your carpet a mini facelift. It:
- Removes trip hazards (goodbye stubbed toes).
- Extends the life of your carpet.
- Makes vacuuming easier (no more crumbs hiding in the “waves”).
- Keeps your home looking sharp and well cared-for.
How to Prevent Carpet Ripples in the Future
Now that you’ve got your carpet smooth again, let’s keep it that way:
- Don’t drag furniture—lift it or use sliders. Your carpet will thank you.
- Control indoor humidity with a dehumidifier or HVAC system.
- Choose quality installation from pros who use a power stretcher (like our team at Nip & Tuck!).
- Routine cleaning helps keep fibers strong and prevents unnecessary stress.
Nip & Tuck to the Rescue
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we live for smoothing out those carpet wrinkles. Our carpet-stretching pros bring your flooring back to its original glory so it’s safe, sturdy, and oh-so-satisfying to walk on. Plus, with a little TLC, we’ll help make sure you won’t need another stretch anytime soon.
So next time your carpet looks like it’s plotting a trip hazard, give us a call. We’ll nip the problem in the bud and tuck your flooring back into shape.

Carpet Transitions Close the Gap
Congratulations! You just got that shiny new tile or those dreamy hardwood planks installed—cue the celebration dance! But wait… what’s this? A weird little gap where your carpet ends and the new flooring begins? Oh no no no—we’re not letting your fabulous floor transformation fall flat at the finish line.
That’s where carpet transitions come in—the MVPs of seamless style and trip-free living. And we, your trusty crew at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, are here to make that final detail tuck-tastically perfect.
So… What’s a Carpet Transition, Anyway?
Think of a carpet transition as a friendly handshake between your old carpet and your new flooring. Whether it's tile, hardwood, laminate, or even luxury vinyl, that junction needs a clean, professional finish—not a frayed mess waiting to trip Aunt Susan during game night.
We’re talking:
- No raw edges
- No duct-tape DIYs
- No sad saggy carpet
Just a clean, tidy tuck with a smooth transition that’s strong enough to handle foot traffic, pets, and all your "new floor" struts.
Did You Just Install Tile or Hardwood? We’ve Got You.
If you've recently upgraded part of your flooring with tile or hardwood, your carpet’s likely sitting there feeling a little left out—and maybe even coming loose at the edge.
Here’s where we at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair come to the rescue:
- We re-tack your existing carpet so it’s snug as a bug in a rug (literally).
- We install a custom transition strip that fits your space and material perfectly.
- We make it look like the carpet and tile were always meant to be together.
It’s the little detail that makes a big difference—and keeps your space looking professionally polished.
Why Not Just Leave It Be?
Oh, friend. Please no. A raw carpet edge is not only an eyesore—it’s a tripping hazard, a dirt trap, and a gateway to unraveling fibers of doom. Plus, it can damage your new flooring if left unaddressed.
And we’re not in the business of letting your beautiful new floors go out with a whimper. We’re in the business of snipping, tucking, and triumphantly transitioning one floor to the next like pros.
Why Choose Nip & Tuck?
Because we specialize in the in-between things most people overlook. We’re like the behind-the-scenes wardrobe crew of the home improvement world:
- Fast turnarounds
- Professional-grade transitions
- Affordable repairs without replacing your whole carpet
- Local and ridiculously proud of our craft
Are you ready to finish what you started? If your carpet needs to be re-tacked, if a transition strip is missing, or if your new floors just need a little love where they meet the old ones—we’re your people. Call Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair today, and let’s make your floors look as flawless as they feel.
And remember: Don’t trip. Just transition.

The Secret Life of Fresh Carpets
Look, we all want the kind of carpet that makes people say, “Wow, what IS that fresh, clean smell?” instead of “Oh… did you get a new pet?”
Whether you’re a proud carpet parent to a shaggy Berber, a sleek saxony, or something somewhere in between, the goal is always the same: keep it looking and smelling fresh for as long as humanly (and petly) possible. So how can you keep your carpet from taking a trip to funky town this summer?
Here at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we’ve got you covered. We’ve seen it all—from grape juice disasters to mysterious foot-traffic funk. So we’ve pulled together our top tips to help you love your carpet longer.
Vacuum Like You Mean It (and Often)
Let’s be honest—your vacuum is basically your carpet’s bestie. Treat it well and use it often. Aim for at least once a week (twice if you have pets, kids, or a knack for dropping popcorn).
Bonus Tip: Empty the vacuum canister before it’s totally full. Otherwise, you’re basically dragging dusty regret across your clean floors.
Spot Clean Like a Ninja
Spills are inevitable—but stains don’t have to be. The trick? Act fast. Blot (don’t rub!) the moment something splashes, smears, or oozes. Keep a stash of gentle carpet cleaner on hand—or use the ol’ baking soda and vinegar trick in a pinch.
If a stain starts to feel permanent, don’t panic—that’s when you call us. Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair specializes in turning “uh-oh” into “what stain?”
Let It Breathe, Baby
Carpets, like people, need a little fresh air now and then. Open windows when the weather’s nice, and use ceiling fans to keep air circulating. A well-ventilated room = less moisture = fewer funky smells.
And please—for the love of nose hair—don’t forget to change your HVAC filters regularly. Dirty air = dirty carpet. Facts.
Sprinkle, Sit, Suck
This is the unofficial carpet spa treatment. Every now and then, sprinkle baking soda over your carpet, let it chill for 15-30 minutes (while you sip something fabulous), then vacuum it up.
Baking soda neutralizes odors like a pro—leaving your carpet fresh and your home smelling less “zoo enclosure” and more “new beginnings.”
Deep Clean Without the Drama
Once or twice a year, your carpet deserves a deeper dive. Rent a steam cleaner, call in the pros, or at least schedule a date with your most powerful cleaning machine. This gets rid of embedded grime, stubborn smells, and things you don’t want to know about. Trust us—it’s worth it.
Pro Tip: After a deep clean, let your carpet dry completely to avoid that musty “I left my towel in a gym bag” scent.
Repair Before You Replace
Got a rip, burn, or mystery divot? Don’t throw the whole carpet out with the bathwater. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we specialize in magic fixes that make your carpet look like it never met chaos.
Seriously—we’re the fairy godparents of frayed edges, pet damage, and unfortunate iron burns.
Train Your Pets (Or At Least Your Guests)
Okay, so you can’t always control who (or what) traipses across your carpet. But a few simple rules—shoes off at the door, paws wiped before entering, and no red wine on the plush stuff—go a long way.
Consider rugs in high-traffic areas as carpet bodyguards. Stylish and practical? Yes, please.
Give Your Carpet the Royal Treatment
You walk on it. You play on it. You probably eat snacks on it while binge-watching home reno shows. It’s your silent sidekick, and it deserves to look (and smell) its best.
With a little love, regular care, and some backup from Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, your carpet can stay fresh, fluffy, and fabulous for years.
Need help with a repair? Call us. We’re basically carpet surgeons.

How to Replace a Carpet Section
So, your carpet has a problem spot. Maybe your dog thought it was a snack. Maybe a mystery stain set up permanent residency. Or maybe your teenager learned the hard way that nail polish and carpet don’t mix.
Whatever the cause, you don’t need to rip up your entire floor and launch into a full renovation. Nope! With a little DIY magic and some help from your pals at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, you can replace a damaged section like a pro—and maybe even impress your in-laws while you’re at it. In this article we’ll cover just how to do it…
Assess the Damage (and Take a Deep Breath)
First, take a good look at the damage. Is it small enough to isolate and replace without messing with the whole room’s vibe? We’re talking cigarette burns, pet disasters, bleach spills, or that oddly specific triangle of carpet that somehow melted.
If it’s a big ol’ mess or involves seams, stairs, or odd angles, this might be a job for the Nip Tuck crew. But if it’s a simple patch job? Roll up your sleeves—we’re going in.
Find a Matching Carpet Piece
Pro Tip: Always save your carpet scraps! If you’ve got leftovers from the original install, you’re golden. If not, steal a swatch from a hidden spot—like the back of a closet. Trust us, your vacuum won’t judge.
Matching is key here. The color, texture, and wear level should all line up. If your replacement piece looks like a time traveler from a cleaner dimension, it’s going to be obvious.
Cut Out the Damaged Section
Using a utility knife and a carpet square (or a straight edge), carefully cut around the damaged area. Make your cut clean and square—jagged edges are for amateur hour, and we know you’re better than that.
Pro Tip: Only cut through the carpet, not the pad or subfloor. You want to replace the top layer, not dig a hole to the center of the earth.
Cut Your Patch to Fit
Lay your replacement piece over the hole you just made. Line up the carpet’s grain and direction (yes, carpet has a “grain”—who knew?).
Use your removed piece as a stencil, trace it, and then carefully cut your patch. Like a puzzle piece, it should fit snugly. No pressure!
Tape It Down Like You Mean It
Grab some carpet seam tape (available at hardware stores or our shop if you're local) and place it sticky-side up in the floor hole.
Then press your patch into place, making sure the nap (a.k.a. the fuzzy direction) flows the same way as the rest of the carpet. You don’t want a cowlick in the middle of your living room.
Blend and Fluff
Use a carpet roller or even a heavy book to press the patch firmly down. Then gently fluff the fibers around the seam using your fingers, a brush, or the back of a spoon.
If all went well, no one will even know there was a crime scene there yesterday.
Not a DIYer? PERFECT! That’s Where We Come In
Listen, we love a good DIY. But if the job gets hairy—or your patch job looks like it came from a carpet Frankenstein—Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair is just a phone call away.
We specialize in:
- Invisible patch repairs

Carpet Repair Tips for Pet Owners
No matter which furry friend you prefer, we can all agree that while pets bring joy, love, and companionship into our homes—they can also be tough on carpets! From claw marks and chewing damage to stains and pet accidents, we at Nip & Tuck have seen that keeping carpets in great shape can feel like a never-ending challenge. Fortunately, carpet repairs don’t always require a full replacement. With the right techniques, you yourself can fix common pet-related carpet damage and extend the life of your flooring. In this article, we’ll cover the most effective carpet repair tips for pet owners, so you can keep your home looking fresh and pet-friendly.
Common Carpet Problems Caused by Pets
Before diving into repair solutions, let's look at some typical pet-related carpet damage:
- 🐾 Scratches and Snags – Dogs and cats with sharp claws can tear carpet fibers, especially around doorways.
- 🐶 Chewing Damage – Puppies and curious pets may chew on carpet edges, creating frayed sections.
- 💦 Pet Stains & Odors – Accidents happen, but lingering smells and stains can be tough to remove.
- 🐕 Flattened or Matted Carpet – Pets love to nap in their favorite spots, causing carpet fibers to get crushed over time.
If you’ve noticed any of these issues, don’t worry—there are easy ways to fix them!
How to Repair Pet-Damaged Carpet
1️⃣ Fixing Snags & Scratches
Scratches and pulled carpet fibers can make your flooring look worn and messy. Here’s how to repair it:
- ✔ Trim Loose Fibers – Use scissors to carefully snip off frayed carpet strands. Avoid pulling on them, as this can make the damage worse.
- ✔ Use a Carpet Seam Roller – A seam roller helps flatten pulled fibers and blend them back into the carpet.
- ✔ Steam & Brush – Lightly steam the area and use a carpet brush to fluff up the fibers.
2️⃣ Repairing Chewed Carpet Edges
If your pet has chewed on the carpet near the walls or stairs, you can patch it up instead of replacing the whole carpet.
- ✔ Trim the Damaged Area – Cut away frayed or chewed fibers for a clean edge.
- ✔ Apply Carpet Tape – Use double-sided carpet tape under the damaged section to secure the remaining carpet.
- ✔ Patch It Up – If a small section is missing, cut a matching carpet piece from a hidden area (like a closet) and use carpet glue or tape to secure it.
💡 Nip & Tuck Tip: If the damage is severe, you may need to call in the pros at Nip & Tuck to patch and seamlessly blend in a new section.
3️⃣ Removing Pet Stains & Odors
Pet accidents are one of the biggest carpet challenges. Acting quickly is key to preventing permanent stains and odors.
- ✔ Blot, Don’t Rub – Use a clean cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Rubbing can spread the stain.
- ✔ Use a Pet-Friendly Cleaner – Enzyme-based cleaners break down pet urine and eliminate odors. Avoid harsh chemicals that can be harmful to pets.
- ✔ Baking Soda Trick – Sprinkle baking soda over the area, let it sit for a few hours, then vacuum to absorb lingering smells.
💡 Nip & Tuck Tip: If stains persist, consider professional hot water extraction cleaning to deep clean the fibers.
4️⃣ Restoring Flattened Carpet from Pet Traffic
Pets love to sleep and play in the same spots, causing carpets to become matted and worn down.
- ✔ Steam & Brush – Use a steam iron (on low setting) and a soft-bristle brush to lift flattened fibers.
- ✔ Ice Cube Trick – Place ice cubes on flattened areas, let them melt, then fluff the fibers with a spoon or brush.
- ✔ Rotate Pet Beds – Move pet beds and favorite lounging spots regularly to prevent wear in one area.
How to Prevent Future Carpet Damage
- 🐕 Keep Nails Trimmed – Regularly trim your pet’s nails to prevent snagging and scratching.
- 🐶 Provide Chew Toys – Redirect chewing behavior with durable toys instead of carpets.
- 🚪 Use Carpet Protectors – Place mats or rugs in high-traffic areas and under pet beds.
- 🐾 Train Pets Early – Teach pets to stay off certain carpeted areas and use designated potty spots.
Fix Furry Damage
We hope by now you have learned that pets and carpets can coexist—with a little maintenance and quick repairs, you can keep your flooring looking great while enjoying the company of your furry friends. Whether it's trimming snags, fixing chew marks, or removing stains, these simple techniques will help restore and protect your carpet for years to come. Of course, if the damage is too much for you, your carpet repair friends at Nip & Tuck will be happy to help.
🐶🐾 Happy pet parenting—without the carpet stress! 🐾🐱

How Nip and Tuck Seamlessly Blends Carpet Patches
Carpet owners have to live with one sad truth: accidents happen. Whether it’s a stubborn stain, pet damage, or a burn mark, carpets can end up with unsightly spots that seem impossible to fix. Instead of replacing the entire carpet, your local carpet experts at Nip & Tuck come to the rescue. We specialize in seamless carpet patching, restoring the damaged area so that it blends naturally with the rest of your flooring. Here’s how our team at Nip & Tuck ensures that your carpet patch is virtually undetectable:
Precise Carpet Matching
The key to a seamless patch is finding a perfect match for the existing carpet. If you have leftover carpet remnants from the original installation, our team will use that to ensure an exact color and texture match. If remnants aren’t available, we can take carpet from an inconspicuous area, like the back of a closet, to ensure the patch blends in flawlessly.
Careful Cutting and Placement
A sloppy patch job will stick out immediately, which is why precision is critical. Our team carefully cuts out the damaged section of carpet in a clean, straight-edged shape to ensure a snug fit with the replacement piece.
The new piece is then cut to perfectly align with the surrounding carpet’s pile and pattern, ensuring that it looks like it was never replaced.
Invisible Seaming Techniques
One of the biggest challenges in carpet patching is hiding the seams. Nip & Tuck uses professional-grade seaming techniques, including:
- Heat-bonding technology to secure the patch and prevent shifting
- Seam rollers to blend fibers and smooth out the edges
- Proper pile direction matching to ensure uniformity
By carefully aligning the fibers, the transition between the patched area and the original carpet becomes virtually invisible.
Feathering and Blending for a Natural Look
After the patch is secured, our team goes the extra mile to blend it in further. We use specialized carpet rakes and brushes to "feather" the edges, ensuring the fibers of the patch and surrounding carpet intermix naturally.
Final Inspection and Touch-Ups
Once the patch is in place, we inspect it under different lighting conditions to ensure a flawless finish. Any necessary touch-ups are made, and we’ll guide you on how to care for the repaired area so it remains durable and unnoticeable over time.
Restore Your Carpet Instead of Replacing It
With Nip & Tuck’s expert techniques, carpet patching doesn’t have to be an eyesore. Our process ensures that your carpet looks just as good as before—without the cost of full replacement. If you have a damaged area that needs repair, contact us today and let us restore your carpet to perfection!

How to Get Chocolate Out of Carpet
So, we have a strange feeling that your carpet may be more susceptible to chocolate this month—not sure why. Well, chocolate is a delicious treat, but when it ends up on your carpet, it can quickly become a sticky, stubborn mess. Whether it’s from melted chocolate, cocoa powder, or a dropped candy bar, acting fast is key to preventing a permanent stain. We at Nip & Tuck want to give you some tips just in case your carpet becomes a little more chocolatey this month.
Let the Chocolate Harden
If the chocolate is melted, resist the urge to wipe it up immediately. Instead, let it harden so it’s easier to remove. You can speed up the process by placing an ice pack or a bag of ice cubes over the chocolate for a few minutes. Once hardened, gently scrape off as much as possible using a butter knife or the edge of a spoon.
Vacuum Up Loose Pieces
After scraping off the hardened chocolate, use a vacuum cleaner to remove any remaining flakes or crumbs. This helps prevent smearing when you apply cleaning solutions.
Apply a Mild Cleaning Solution
Mix a solution of one teaspoon of dish soap and two cups of warm water. Dampen a clean cloth with the solution and blot the stained area—avoid scrubbing, as this can push the chocolate deeper into the carpet fibers.
For tough stains, you can also try a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Vinegar helps break down the oils in the chocolate without leaving a soapy residue.
Blot the Stain Until It Fades
Continue blotting with the cleaning solution, switching to a clean section of the cloth as needed. Work from the outer edges of the stain toward the center to prevent it from spreading.
Rinse with Cold Water
Once the stain has lifted, dampen a new cloth with cold water and blot the area to remove any leftover cleaning solution. This step helps prevent residue buildup that can attract dirt later.
Dry and Fluff the Carpet
Use a dry towel to blot excess moisture, then allow the carpet to air dry completely. Once dry, run a vacuum over the area to restore the carpet’s texture.
What If the Chocolate Stain Persists?
For particularly stubborn stains, you may need to repeat the cleaning process or use a carpet stain remover. Always test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it won’t damage your carpet.
Keep Your Carpet Chocolate-Free
Accidents happen, but with the right approach, you can remove chocolate stains quickly and effectively. By acting fast and using gentle cleaning techniques, your carpet can stay looking fresh and stain-free. Apply these tips from your carpet lovers at Nip & Tuck to safely and effectively remove chocolate from your carpet without damaging the fibers.

Winter Is In Full Swing
Winter came a knockin’ and is in full swing. That could spell disaster for your carpet. Increased foot traffic, wet shoes, and winter debris like snow, salt, and mud can take a toll on your flooring. Properly preparing your carpet for winter not only helps maintain its appearance but also extends its lifespan. We at Nip & Tuck want to tell you how you can get your carpets winter-ready and ensure they stay clean and fresh all season long.
Deep Clean Before Winter Arrives
Before winter sets in, it’s essential to give your carpet a thorough deep clean. A professional carpet cleaning service can remove accumulated dirt, allergens, and stains, ensuring a fresh start for the season. Deep cleaning eliminates bacteria and grime that can become trapped in carpet fibers, preventing unpleasant odors from developing when windows are closed and indoor heating is in use.
Tips for Pre-Winter Cleaning:
- Vacuum thoroughly, especially in high-traffic areas.
- Consider steam cleaning to remove deep-seated dirt.
- Use a carpet deodorizer to freshen up the fibers.
- Treat stubborn stains with appropriate carpet-safe cleaners.
Apply Carpet Protection
Winter months bring moisture and dirt that can quickly damage your carpet fibers. Applying a carpet protectant can create a barrier against spills and stains, making it easier to clean up messes before they set in. Carpet protectors help repel liquids, keeping your carpet looking newer for longer.
Benefits of Carpet Protection:
- Prevents moisture from soaking into fibers.
- Makes daily cleaning more effective.
- Reduces the risk of permanent stains.
Use Entryway Mats and Runners
Your carpet’s first line of defense against winter dirt and moisture is a good entryway mat. Placing mats at every entrance helps trap dirt and moisture before it reaches your carpet. Additionally, consider using runners in high-traffic areas to provide extra protection during the wet season.
Choosing the Right Mats:
- Use absorbent mats with a non-slip backing.
- Clean and shake out mats regularly.
- Encourage guests and family to wipe their feet before entering.
Implement a No-Shoes Policy
One of the easiest ways to protect your carpet during winter is to enforce a no-shoes rule in your home. Snow, salt, and mud carried in on footwear can quickly soil carpets and lead to long-term damage. Provide a designated area near the door for guests to remove their shoes and consider offering cozy indoor slippers for comfort.
No-Shoes Policy Tips:
- Place a shoe rack near the entrance.
- Keep a bench or seating area for easy shoe removal.
- Have a friendly sign reminding visitors of the policy.
Regular Vacuuming and Spot Cleaning
Winter can introduce more dirt and debris into your home, making regular vacuuming essential to maintain your carpet’s cleanliness. Aim to vacuum at least 2-3 times a week, focusing on high-traffic areas such as entryways and hallways. For accidental spills or mud stains, act quickly with spot-cleaning techniques to prevent long-term damage.
Effective Spot Cleaning Tips:
- Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth—never rub.
- Use a mild carpet cleaner or DIY solution (like vinegar and water).
- Test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area first.
Adjust Humidity Levels Indoors
Winter heating systems can dry out the air inside your home, which can cause carpet fibers to become brittle and prone to damage. Using a humidifier helps maintain proper moisture levels, preventing excessive static electricity buildup and preserving the softness of your carpet.
Ideal Humidity Levels:
- Keep indoor humidity between 30-50%.
- Use a hygrometer to monitor levels.
- Avoid excessive moisture, which can encourage mold growth.
Winter Carpet Care Wrap-Up
No doubt you have seen that as the colder months approach, your home’s carpet faces new challenges. Preparing your carpet for winter involves proactive cleaning, preventive measures, and regular maintenance. With proper care, you can keep your carpet looking fresh and free of winter-related damage. Take steps such as deep cleaning before winter, applying carpet protectant, and implementing a no-shoes policy to maintain a clean and cozy home all season long. If the situation has already gotten out of hand, don’t worry—just give your experts at Nip & Tuck a call, and we’ll be happy to help you take care of it.

How to Know When Carpet Padding Needs to Be Replaced
Carpet padding is the unsung hero of unsung heroes. We only notice something is wrong when something feels off. That’s because carpet padding, the layer beneath your carpet, plays a vital role in making your floors feel comfortable, insulating your home, and extending the life of your carpet. However, like most materials, carpet padding doesn’t last forever. If you’re wondering whether it’s time to retire your hero and replace your padding, here are some telltale signs to help you decide.
Uncomfortable Underfoot
If your carpet feels unusually hard or uncomfortable to walk on, it’s a sign that the padding has lost its cushioning. Quality carpet padding should feel soft, supportive, and help absorb impacts. When it becomes worn, it loses its ability to bounce back, making your carpet feel thin and uninviting.
Persistent Carpet Odors
Over time, spills, pet accidents, and moisture can seep through the carpet and into the padding. If you notice persistent odors even after a thorough carpet cleaning, the padding may be harboring mold, mildew, or bacteria. In such cases, replacing the padding is essential to avoid respiratory issues and keep your home smelling fresh.
Visible Carpet Wear or Wrinkles
A good carpet pad helps keep your carpet looking smooth and prevents it from bunching up. If you start noticing wrinkles, ripples, or other uneven areas, it’s likely due to a compromised padding layer that no longer holds the carpet securely. Replacing the padding can give your carpet a fresh, even look again.
Increased Noise Levels
This one surprises most. Carpet padding helps to absorb sound, making rooms quieter and more comfortable. If you notice that footsteps and other sounds seem louder, it may indicate that the padding is thinning and no longer providing sufficient soundproofing. Replacing it can help bring back a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere.
Old Age
Most carpet padding is designed to last between 10 to 20 years, depending on the material, foot traffic, and overall wear. If your padding is nearing or surpassing this timeframe, it’s likely due for replacement. Even if it doesn’t show obvious signs of wear, old padding can lose its structure, leading to reduced comfort and support.
Replacing carpet padding when it shows signs of wear is essential for maintaining a comfortable, durable, and hygienic floor. If you notice discomfort, odors, carpet ripples, or excessive noise, it’s likely time to consider replacing the padding and give Nip & Tuck a call. Upgrading your carpet padding can enhance the look and feel of your carpet, extending its lifespan and improving the comfort of your home.

Restore Burnt Carpet Spots Like a Pro
There’s probably not a stain more unsightly and dreaded than a burnt spot on your carpet. Whether it comes from curling irons, dropped ashes, or even accidents with candles— burnt spots can feel like a major defeat. But they don’t have to be permanent. Repairing these burnt carpet spots is possible with a few DIY tips or a bit of help from a professional like carpet experts at Nip & Tuck if needed. In this article we will give you some suggestions to help you fix those spots and restore the look of your carpet.
Assess the Damage
The first step is determining how deep and wide the burn goes. Burns can vary in severity, from minor surface burns, where only the carpet fibers are scorched, to deeper burns that penetrate into the backing. For small or surface burns, you may be able to handle the fix yourself. For larger or deeper burns, consider contacting Nip & Tuck since we are professional carpet repair specialists who can perform a more thorough restoration.
Trim Away Scorched Fibers
For small surface burns, you can often get away with trimming the scorched fibers. Using sharp scissors or a small pair of nail clippers, carefully snip away the blackened tips without cutting into undamaged carpet. Be patient and trim only a little at a time to avoid creating a noticeable dent or patch.
Pro Tip: Use a small vacuum or a lint roller afterward to remove any loose fibers, making it easier to see if additional trimming is needed.
Replace Carpet Fibers with Spare or Hidden Carpet
If the burn is more than a surface blemish, you’ll need to replace the damaged fibers. Here’s how:
- Find Spare Carpet: If you have leftover carpet from installation, you’re in luck! If not, you can carefully cut a small piece from a hidden area, like the back of a closet, to match the texture and color.
- Prepare the Patch: Cut out a small patch that matches the size of the damaged area. Trim carefully to match the fiber length of the surrounding carpet.
- Attach the Patch: Apply a small amount of carpet adhesive or carpet tape to the burned spot and place the patch over it, pressing down gently until it’s secure. Blend the fibers together by brushing lightly with your fingers.
Blend with Additional Carpet Fibers for Small Burns
Another effective way to blend a small burn is by collecting loose carpet fibers from a hidden area (or using remnants if available). Once you have a small amount, add a dab of fabric glue or carpet adhesive to the burned spot, then press the fibers in. This method works well for disguising smaller marks and seamlessly blending them into the existing carpet.
Pro Tip: If you need a bit more blending, gently comb the fibers with a fine-tooth comb after the adhesive sets to fluff them up.
Iron-On Carpet Patches for Larger Burns
For more extensive burns, an iron-on patch may be necessary:
- Cut Out the Burned Section: Use a utility knife to remove the burned area in a neat, square shape.
- Cut a Patch to Fit: From leftover carpet or a hidden spot, cut a matching piece slightly larger than the hole.
- Secure with Heat: Use iron-on carpet adhesive tape to secure the patch. Place the adhesive in the hole, position the patch, and use a warm (not too hot) iron to press the patch in place, following the adhesive’s instructions.
Once complete, your carpet should look more even, and the patch will be less noticeable with daily use.
Consider Professional Repairs for Larger or Delicate Carpets
If your carpet has a deep or wide burn, or if you’re dealing with patterned or particularly delicate carpet, call in Nip & Tuck so we can take it off your shoulders. As carpet repair experts we can reweave or replace larger sections of carpet seamlessly and have access to tools and techniques that ensure the repairs last.
Restore Your Carpet with Confidence
Burn marks don’t have to mean the end of beautiful carpet. With careful trimming, patching, and blending, even significant burns can become nearly invisible. Whether you handle the repairs yourself or call in the pros at Nip & Tuck, these steps will help you bring your carpet back to life and keep your floors looking fresh and burn-free.

Common Carpet Problems and Why They Occur
At Nip & Tuck we are very familiar with carpet issues. We understand that since carpets add warmth and comfort to any your home, the last thing you want is for it to be stained and damaged. Despite your efforts, over time, they can encounter a range of issues that affect their appearance and durability. From unsightly stains to wear and tear, understanding common carpet problems and why they happen can help you take preventive measures to extend the life of your carpet. In this blog, we’ll explore some of the most frequent carpet issues and their causes, along with tips on how to address them before you call in the pros at Nip & Tuck.
Stains and Spills
- Why it happens: Stains are among the most common carpet problems. Spills from beverages, food, or household items like ink can leave permanent marks if not treated quickly. Carpets, especially light-colored ones, are particularly susceptible to staining.
- Solution: Blot spills immediately to prevent them from seeping deeper into the carpet fibers. Avoid scrubbing, as this can push the stain further down. Use a carpet stain remover or a mixture of vinegar and water to gently lift the stain. Regular professional cleaning can also help maintain the appearance of your carpet.
Fading
- Why it happens: Sunlight can cause carpet fibers to fade over time. UV rays break down the color pigments in the carpet, leading to patches of faded or discolored areas, especially in rooms with large windows or high sunlight exposure.
- Solution: Use curtains or blinds to block out direct sunlight during peak hours. You can also rearrange furniture periodically to ensure even fading. Some carpets come with UV-resistant treatments, which can help prevent fading.
Matting and Crushing
- Why it happens: Matting and crushing occur when the carpet fibers become flattened or compressed, especially in high-traffic areas like hallways, entryways, and living rooms. Over time, the fibers lose their resilience and can become permanently pressed down.
- Solution: Regular vacuuming helps lift and restore carpet fibers. Placing area rugs in high-traffic zones or rearranging furniture can distribute wear more evenly. Investing in a high-quality carpet with a durable pile or selecting a carpet designed for heavy foot traffic can reduce matting and crushing.
Wrinkles and Ripples
- Why it happens: Wrinkles, ripples, or buckling in the carpet are caused by improper installation, heavy furniture placement, or temperature and humidity fluctuations. These ripples can also develop if the carpet wasn’t properly stretched during installation.
- Solution: If ripples or wrinkles appear, it may be necessary to have the carpet professionally re-stretched. To prevent buckling, avoid dragging heavy furniture across the carpet and try to maintain consistent indoor temperatures and humidity levels.
Shedding
- Why it happens: New carpets, especially those made from natural fibers like wool, tend to shed when first installed. Shedding occurs as loose fibers from the manufacturing process come to the surface of the carpet.
- Solution: Regular vacuuming will help reduce shedding over time. Shedding usually decreases after a few months as the loose fibers are removed. If shedding continues beyond this point, it could indicate lower carpet quality.
Odors
- Why it happens: Carpets can absorb odors from pets, spills, smoke, and everyday foot traffic. Over time, these odors can become trapped in the carpet fibers and padding, leaving a lingering smell in your home.
- Solution: Regular vacuuming and spot cleaning can help prevent odors from setting in. Deep cleaning your carpet with a steam cleaner or hiring a professional cleaning service can remove odors trapped deep in the fibers. Additionally, using baking soda on your carpet before vacuuming can neutralize bad smells.
Carpets are a substantial investment in your home, and proper care is essential to keep them looking their best for years to come. Regular vacuuming, prompt cleaning of spills, and occasional professional cleaning by Nip & Tuck can address common problems before they escalate. By understanding the causes of these issues and taking proactive steps to prevent them, you can maintain the beauty and longevity of your carpet.

How to Fix Carpet Indentations from Furniture
There’s nothing worse than having great carpet seemingly ruined by something as small as an indentation. Carpet indentations from heavy furniture can be an eyesore and a nuisance, detracting from the overall appearance of your home. Fortunately, there are several effective methods to restore your carpet's original texture and appearance. Of course we at Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair can offer our expertise if you want professionals to take care of any carpet issue. Here’s a guide on how to fix those pesky carpet indentations:
Method 1: Ice Cube Trick
Step 1: Place an ice cube in each indentation.
Step 2: Allow the ice to melt completely. This will take a few hours, so it's best to do this in the evening and let it sit overnight.
Step 3: Once the ice has melted, gently blot the excess water with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Step 4: Use a spoon, the edge of a coin, or your fingers to fluff up the carpet fibers. Gently lift and separate the fibers until they return to their original position.
Method 2: Steam Iron Method
Step 1: Place a damp cloth or towel over the indentation.
Step 2: Set your iron to a medium heat setting and turn off the steam function if it has one.
Step 3: Iron over the damp cloth for a few seconds, moving the iron continuously to avoid scorching the carpet.
Step 4: Remove the cloth and use your fingers or a spoon to gently lift the carpet fibers.
Method 3: Hairdryer Technique
Step 1: Spray a small amount of water on the indentation to slightly dampen the area.
Step 2: Use a hairdryer on a medium heat setting to dry the dampened area. Hold the hairdryer a few inches away from the carpet to avoid damaging the fibers.
Step 3: As you dry the carpet, use your fingers or a spoon to fluff up the fibers, restoring them to their original state.
Method 4: Carpet Rake or Brush
Step 1: Purchase a carpet rake or brush from a home improvement or carpet supply store.
Step 2: Use the rake or brush to gently lift and separate the carpet fibers in the indented areas.
Step 3: Repeat this process until the indentations are no longer visible.
Preventative Measures
To prevent future carpet indentations:
- Furniture Coasters: Place coasters or furniture cups under the legs of heavy furniture to distribute the weight more evenly and reduce pressure on the carpet.
- Regular Rotation: Periodically move or rotate your furniture to different positions to prevent permanent indentations.
- High-Density Padding: Invest in high-density carpet padding, which provides better support and helps minimize indentations.
To wrap it all up, carpet indentations from furniture can be effectively fixed using simple household items and techniques. Whether you choose the ice cube trick, steam iron method, hairdryer technique, or a carpet rake, these methods can help restore your carpet’s appearance. Additionally, taking preventative measures can help avoid future indentations, keeping your carpet looking fresh and new. But when all else fails, just give us a call at Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair and we’ll leave you satisfied with excellent carpet.

Keep Your Carpets Beetle-Free: Essential Tips from Nip Tuck Carpet Repair
Carpets can add warmth, comfort, and style to any home, but they can also become a breeding ground for unwelcome guests like carpet beetles. These tiny pests can wreak havoc on your carpets, causing damage that requires costly repairs or replacements. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to prevent carpet beetles from infesting your carpets and preserve their beauty and integrity. Here’s a comprehensive guide featuring essential tips from Nip Tuck Carpet Repair.
Regular Vacuuming:
One of the most effective ways to prevent carpet beetles is to maintain a regular vacuuming routine. Vacuum your carpets at least once a week, paying special attention to areas where crumbs, pet hair, and other debris accumulate. This helps remove potential food sources that attract carpet beetles and prevents them from establishing colonies in your carpets.
Deep Cleaning:
In addition to regular vacuuming, schedule periodic deep cleaning sessions for your carpets. Steam cleaning or shampooing can effectively remove dirt, dust, and allergens trapped deep within the carpet fibers, making your carpets less hospitable to carpet beetles. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair recommends hiring professional carpet cleaners for thorough and efficient deep cleaning services.
Reduce Clutter:
Clutter provides hiding spots and breeding grounds for carpet beetles, so it’s essential to minimize clutter in your home, especially in areas with carpeting. Keep closets, storage spaces, and under furniture clutter-free to reduce the risk of carpet beetle infestations. Regularly decluttering and organizing your home can also improve airflow and ventilation, which helps deter carpet beetles.
Seal Entry Points:
Carpet beetles can enter your home through openings around doors, windows, and utility penetrations. To prevent them from gaining access to your carpets, seal any cracks, gaps, or openings using caulk, weatherstripping, or sealant. Pay particular attention to areas where pipes, wires, or vents enter your home, as these are common entry points for pests.
Store Clothing Properly:
Carpet beetles are not just attracted to carpets—they also feed on natural fibers like wool, silk, and cotton found in clothing, linens, and upholstery. To protect your textiles from carpet beetles, store them in airtight containers or garment bags when not in use. Regularly inspect and launder clothing and linens to remove any potential food sources for carpet beetles.
Monitor for Signs of Infestation:
Regularly inspect your carpets for signs of carpet beetle activity, such as shed skins, fecal pellets, or damage to carpet fibers. If you suspect a carpet beetle infestation, act promptly to address the problem before it worsens. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair offers professional carpet inspection services to identify and address issues with carpet beetles and other pests.
Preventing carpet beetles from infesting your carpets requires diligence, maintenance, and proactive measures. By implementing a regular cleaning routine, reducing clutter, sealing entry points, properly storing textiles, and monitoring for signs of infestation, you can effectively protect your carpets from these destructive pests. With expert guidance from Nip Tuck Carpet Repair, you can enjoy clean, beautiful carpets free from the threat of carpet beetles.

The Essential Guide to Choosing the Perfect Carpet for Your New Home
As you embark on the exciting journey of furnishing your new home, selecting the right carpet is a decision that can significantly impact both the aesthetics and comfort of your living space. With a myriad of options available, from plush carpets to durable Berber styles, finding the perfect fit can seem like a daunting task. Fear not! Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair is here to guide you through the process and help you make an informed decision that meets your needs and preferences. In this article, we share valuable insights and tips on how to choose the ideal carpet for your new home.
1. Consider Your Lifestyle:
Before diving into the world of carpet options, take a moment to consider your lifestyle and household needs. Do you have pets or young children who are prone to spills and accidents? Are you looking for a low-maintenance option that can withstand heavy foot traffic? Understanding your lifestyle will help you narrow down your choices and select a carpet that is durable, easy to clean, and suitable for your specific requirements.
2. Evaluate Different Carpet Fibers:
Carpet fibers play a crucial role in determining the overall look, feel, and performance of your carpet. Common options include nylon, polyester, wool, and olefin. Each fiber has its own unique characteristics, ranging from softness and stain resistance to durability and cost. Take the time to research and compare the pros and cons of each fiber type to find the one that best suits your lifestyle and budget.
3. Test Samples in Your Home:
When choosing a carpet, it's essential to see how it looks and feels in your home environment. Request samples of your favorite carpet styles and colors from your local flooring retailer and test them out in different rooms and lighting conditions. Pay attention to how the carpet complements your existing decor, whether it hides dirt and stains, and how it feels underfoot. Taking the time to test samples will help you make an informed decision and ensure that you're satisfied with your choice for years to come.
4. Prioritize Quality and Installation:

Unveiling Common Reasons for Carpet Damage
Your carpet endures a lot, from daily foot traffic to accidental spills, and it's only a matter of time before signs of wear and tear begin to appear. At Nip Tuck Carpet Repair, we understand the diverse challenges that carpets face. In this blog, we delve into the comm6on reasons for carpet damage, helping you identify and address issues before they escalate.
Heavy Foot Traffic
One of the most common culprits behind carpet wear and tear is heavy foot traffic. Over time, constant pressure from footsteps can lead to flattened fibers, matting, and visible paths, especially in high-traffic areas like hallways and entryways.
Tip:
Rotate furniture periodically to distribute weight and reduce wear on specific areas. Use rugs or carpet runners to protect highly trafficked sections.
Furniture Indentations
Heavy furniture, if not properly distributed or equipped with protective pads, can leave unsightly indentations on your carpet. These impressions are not only visually unappealing but can also become permanent if not addressed promptly.
Tip:
Use furniture coasters or pads to distribute the weight evenly. Occasionally move furniture to allow the carpet fibers to rebound.
Pet Stains and Accidents
Pets bring joy to our homes but can also pose a threat to your carpet. Accidental spills, pet stains, and scratches can lead to discoloration, odors, and even structural damage if not attended to promptly.
Tip:
Address pet accidents immediately to prevent stains from setting. Invest in pet-friendly carpets or use area rugs in pet-prone areas.
Water Damage
Water damage, whether from leaks, spills, or flooding, can wreak havoc on carpets. Moisture can lead to mold growth, unpleasant odors, and even compromise the carpet's structural integrity.
Tip:
Quickly address spills and leaks by blotting and drying the affected area. Install moisture barriers in areas prone to water exposure.
Snags and Pulls
Sharp objects, furniture legs, or even pets' claws can cause snags and pulls in carpet fibers. These issues not only affect the carpet's appearance but can also lead to unraveling if left unattended.
Tip:
Trim loose fibers carefully to prevent further damage. Use caution when moving furniture to avoid snagging carpet fibers.
Improper Cleaning
While regular cleaning is essential for carpet maintenance, improper cleaning techniques or the use of harsh chemicals can contribute to damage. Over-wetting, using the wrong cleaning agents, or neglecting proper drying can lead to mold, mildew, and discoloration.
Tip:
Follow manufacturer's guidelines for carpet cleaning. Hire professional carpet cleaners for deep cleaning when needed.

What to Do When You Spill Wine on the Carpet
You are having a nice time with friends or family, enjoying your dinner, when all of a sudden disaster strikes. Someone knocked their wine glass over and it landed on your carpet. What can you do about a bright red stain? Dealing with wine stains on your carpet can be challenging, but with the right approach, you can minimize the damage. Here are some tips from Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair.
Act Quickly
The key to successfully removing wine stains is to act as soon as possible. The longer the stain sits, the harder it becomes to remove.
Blot, Don't Rub
Use a clean, white cloth or paper towel to blot the stain. Avoid rubbing the stain, as it can spread and push the wine deeper into the carpet fibers.
Work from the Outside In
Start blotting the stain from the outer edges towards the center. This helps prevent the stain from spreading to a larger area.
Use Cold Water
Dampen a clean cloth with cold water and continue to blot the stain. Cold water is preferable for wine stains, as hot water can set the stain.
Create a Vinegar Solution
Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid in a cup of water. Dab the solution onto the stain, then blot with a clean cloth.
Hydrogen Peroxide Method
If the stain persists, mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water. Test a small, inconspicuous area of your carpet first to ensure it won't cause discoloration. Apply the solution to the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then blot with a clean cloth.
Baking Soda Absorption
After blotting, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the stained area. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight to absorb any remaining moisture and odors. Vacuum up the baking soda the next day.
Professional Carpet Cleaning
If the stain is stubborn and won't come out with DIY methods, consider seeking professional carpet cleaning services. And if that does not work, call Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair. Our repair solutions will have that wine stain a forgotten memory.
Remember, it's crucial to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it won't damage or discolor your carpet. If the stain persists or if you're unsure about handling it yourself, don't hesitate to contact professionals for assistance.

Winter Carpet Care Tips for Dog Owners
Regular Grooming
Keep your dog's fur well-groomed to minimize shedding. Brushing your dog regularly helps reduce the amount of loose hair that can accumulate on carpets.
Paw Maintenance
This is the big one. Wipe your dog's paws when they come indoors to prevent mud, snow, and salt from being tracked onto the carpets. Consider placing a doormat or using pet-friendly wipes at entry points.
Pet-Friendly Rugs or Mats
Use rugs or mats in high-traffic areas where your dog spends more time. These can capture dirt and moisture and are easier to clean or replace than wall-to-wall carpeting.
Frequent Vacuuming
Increase the frequency of vacuuming, focusing on areas where your dog spends the most time. Use a vacuum cleaner with strong suction and consider investing in a pet hair attachment.
Stain Prevention
Use pet-friendly stain repellents or sprays on carpets to minimize the absorption of accidents. Promptly clean up any spills or accidents to prevent stains from setting.
Regular Professional Cleaning
Schedule professional carpet cleaning services, especially during winter, to deep clean and remove embedded dirt, odors, and stains. Professional cleaners have pet-safe solutions.
For dog owners facing stubborn stains that resist conventional cleaning methods, carpet patching can be a viable solution!

What to Do About Bleach Stains
What can you do when cleaning makes a bigger mess? What are we talking about? We’re talking about bleach stains on carpet. Fixing bleach stains on carpet can be challenging, as bleach permanently removes color from the carpet fibers, but there are a few things you can try.
DIY Methods to Mask Bleach Stains
Some carpet dye kits are available for DIY color correction. These kits usually contain colored dyes that you can apply to the bleach-stained area to match the carpet color. However, achieving a perfect match can be difficult, and the results may not be consistent.
In a pinch, you can try using permanent markers or fabric dye to color the bleach-stained area. Again, color matching can be challenging, and the results may not be permanent.
If the bleach stain is in a location where furniture or an area rug can be placed, this is a simple way to cover the damaged area for a short-term solution.
Professional Carpet Patching
When those DIY methods do not provide you with the results you are looking for, professional carpet repair is another good option. At Nip Tuck Carpet Repair, we love helping families in our community restore the look of their carpets and help them save money in comparison to carpet replacement at the same time. And we have seen many bleach stains in our career. To mend bleach stains, what we do is patch the carpet. This consists of cutting out the bleach-stained portion of carpet, matching the area with an identical or similar piece of carpet, and using professional techniques to place that patch. The end result is an invisible or near invisible repair.
So, if you have bleach stains in your carpet and want a high-quality, long-lasting repair, consider reaching out for a professional carpet patch. We can assess the damage and provide the best solution, whether it's through patching or another appropriate method to restore the appearance and integrity of your carpet. We look forward to hearing from you!

Loop vs Cut Pile Style Carpet
At Nip Tuck Carpet Repair, we see lots of carpet in our line of work with a lot of different styles. We want to pass on some of our knowledge to you here today. Specifically, we are going to dive into the different styles of loop and cut pile carpets as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
Loop Pile Carpet
Loop pile carpets are made by weaving the carpet fibers into small loops, creating a continuous, uncut surface. These loops can be of varying heights and densities, resulting in different textures and patterns.
Pros
Loop pile carpets are known for their durability and ability to withstand heavy foot traffic. The looped fibers are less likely to show wear and tear compared to cut pile carpets.
The looped design helps the carpet resist crushing and matting, maintaining its appearance over time.
Loop pile carpets are often treated with stain-resistant coatings, making them less susceptible to stains.
They come in a variety of loop heights and patterns, allowing for customization in terms of texture and design.
Cons
Loop pile carpets tend to be less plush and soft underfoot compared to cut pile carpets. This can be less comfortable for some people.
Loops can potentially snag, especially if sharp objects catch on them. This may result in pulled or damaged loops.
While there are various loop styles, the options may be more limited compared to cut pile carpets in terms of appearance.
Cut Pile Carpet
Cut pile carpets are created by cutting the loops created during the weaving process. This creates individual, upright yarn tufts that give the carpet a plush and soft feel.
Pros
Cut pile carpets are often preferred for their softness and comfort underfoot. They provide a cushioned and luxurious feel.
Cut pile carpets come in a wide range of styles, textures, and colors, making them versatile and suitable for various design preferences.
Their uniform surface is easier to clean, and they are less likely to trap dirt and debris compared to loop pile carpets.
Cons
Cut pile carpets may not be as durable as loop pile carpets in high-traffic areas. The cut fibers can show wear and matting over time.
Due to their more absorbent nature, cut pile carpets may be more prone to staining, especially if not treated with stain-resistant coatings.
Heavy furniture or objects can leave imprints on cut pile carpets, which may require some maintenance to restore the original appearance.
At the end of the day, the choice between loop pile and cut pile carpets depends on your specific needs and preferences. Loop pile carpets are durable and resistant to wear but may be less comfortable underfoot. Cut pile carpets offer plush comfort and a wide range of design options but may require more maintenance in high-traffic areas. Consider the location, traffic level, and desired appearance when deciding between these two carpet styles. And of course, contact your friends here at Nipt Tuck Carpet Repair when you need carpet repair, regardless of if you have cut pile or loop pile carpet.

Mold and Your Carpet
Carpet is a soft material that can be quite absorbent. If met with the right environment, these characteristics can be the perfect place for mold to develop. If you have recently experienced a leak in your home or an especially wet season of weather, your carpet could be at risk for developing mold if not cared for properly. What exactly are the signs of mold in your carpets and what can you do about it if you have it? Let’s find out.
Signs of Mold in Carpets
First, let’s look at the tell-tale signs that you have mold in your carpets.
Visible Mold Growth
The most obvious sign is the presence of visible mold growth on the surface of the carpet. Mold may appear as green, black, or brown spots or patches.
Musty Odor
Mold often emits a musty, earthy odor. If you detect a persistent, unpleasant smell in the room, it could be a sign of mold.
Allergic Reactions
Mold can trigger allergic reactions in some individuals. If you or your family members experience unexplained allergy symptoms like sneezing, coughing, or skin rashes, it could be due to mold in the carpet.
Water Damage
Have you recently experienced flooding or major leaks around your home? If the carpet has been exposed to water or moisture for an extended period, especially in areas prone to flooding, there's a higher risk of mold growth.
Steps to Get Rid of Mold in Carpets
If your carpet does exhibit signs of mold, don’t panic! There are steps you can take.
Dry the Area
The first step is to dry the carpet. Ensure the carpet is completely dry. Use fans and dehumidifiers to remove moisture from the carpet and surrounding area. Mold requires moisture to grow, so this step is crucial.
Enlist Professional Help
After the area is completely dry, you may want to have the carpets professionally cleaned. This will ensure that the mold spores are killed off and that the carpet is removed of any existing mold.
Sometimes when carpet is subjected to extreme or prolonged water contact, the carpet might not be able to shrink back to its original size. This can result in buckling. If you notice this in your carpets, simply reach out to Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair for help. We can effectively stretch your carpets back into place.

Saxony: Saxony carpets have longer, twisted fibers that create a soft and dense texture.
Textured: Textured carpets have a slightly uneven surface, making them ideal for hiding footprints and vacuum marks.

Frieze
Frieze carpets have long, twisted fibers that curl in different directions, creating a casual and textured appearance. They are highly durable and are well-suited for high-traffic areas due to their ability to resist wear and tear.
Patterned
Patterned carpets feature intricate designs or patterns that add visual interest and style to a room. They come in various styles, including cut and loop pile combinations, and can create a unique focal point in a space.

Level loop carpets have loops that are all the same height, creating a smooth and even surface.
Multi-Level Loop
Multi-level loop carpets have loops of varying heights, offering a more textured and patterned look.
Shag
Shag carpets have long, loose fibers that create a deep and luxurious pile. They offer a cozy and inviting feel but require more maintenance compared to other styles due to their longer fibers.
Cut and Loop
Cut and loop carpets combine both cut and looped fibers, creating patterned designs with contrasting textures. They are visually appealing and can hide footprints and soil effectively.

Protect Your Carpet This Summer
Nip tuck Carpet Repair services the Greater Denver area. And while Colorado is known for having an arid climate most times of the year, summer presents a bit more humidity than we are typically used to. This humidity can actually have an effect on the carpets in your home. Here is how it can affect them and what you can do to reduce the humidity in your home during these coming months.
Effects of Summer Humidity on Carpets
For starters, let’s take a look at how exactly humidity can affect your carpets. Especially when carpets go from almost no humidity to higher levels.
Moisture Absorption: High humidity can cause carpets to absorb moisture from the air, making them feel damp or even wet. This can lead to mold and mildew growth, unpleasant odors, and potential damage to the carpet fibers and backing.
Increased Allergens: Humidity creates an ideal environment for allergens like dust mites and mold spores to thrive. These allergens can accumulate in carpets, triggering allergies or respiratory issues for sensitive individuals.
Buckling or Warping: Excessive moisture in the air can cause carpets to expand and buckle, especially if they were not properly installed or have inadequate underlayment. This can result in uneven surfaces and potential tripping hazards.
Tips to Reduce Humidity in Your Home
If carpets near bathrooms, kitchens, or doors are experiencing too much humidity, here is what you can do to reduce moisture levels.
Use Dehumidifiers: Dehumidifiers are effective tools for reducing indoor humidity levels. Place them in areas with high moisture, such as basements, laundry rooms, or bathrooms. Set the humidity level to around 40-50% for optimal comfort.
Increase Ventilation: Proper ventilation helps reduce humidity levels. Open windows and doors to promote airflow, especially during cooler times of the day. Use exhaust fans in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry areas to remove excess moisture.
Use Air Conditioning: Air conditioning not only cools your home but also helps to dehumidify the air. Set your air conditioner to a comfortable temperature and ensure it is in good working condition. Consider using a programmable thermostat to regulate the indoor climate efficiently. Which, with summers being as hot as they have been in Colorado, central AC is probably something you utilize anyway.
By implementing these strategies, you can help reduce the humidity in your home, which in turn can help protect your carpets from moisture-related issues. If, however, you find that humidity has caused ripples and buckles in your carpet, simply reach out to our team at Nip Tuck Carpet Repair. We can make your carpets smooth again in no time!

All About Berber Carpet
Berber carpet is a popular flooring choice known for its unique appearance and durability. It originated from the traditional hand-woven carpets of the Berber tribes in North Africa. If you are considering berber carpet for your home or business, here are some things to consider.
Construction
Berber carpet is characterized by its loop pile construction. It consists of tightly woven loops of yarn, creating a distinctive textured surface. This construction gives Berber carpet its durability and resistance to wear and tear, making it suitable for high-traffic areas in both residential and commercial settings.
Material Options
Berber carpet can be made from various materials, including wool, nylon, olefin (polypropylene), or a blend of fibers. Wool Berber carpet offers a luxurious feel and natural durability, while synthetic fibers like nylon and olefin are known for their stain resistance and affordability. The choice of material depends on factors such as budget, desired performance characteristics, and personal preference.
Appearance
Berber carpet is known for its flecked or speckled appearance, which is created by the variations in color within the looped yarns. This speckled effect can help hide dirt, stains, and footprints, making it a practical choice for busy households or commercial spaces where frequent cleaning may not be feasible.
Durability
The looped construction of Berber carpet contributes to its exceptional durability. The tightly woven loops provide resistance against crushing, matting, and signs of wear. However, it's important to note that Berber carpet with larger loops may be more prone to snagging, so it's crucial to choose a suitable style based on the anticipated level of foot traffic.
Stain Resistance
Many Berber carpets, especially those made from synthetic fibers like nylon or olefin, offer excellent stain resistance. These carpets often have built-in stain protection treatments, making them easier to clean and maintain. However, it's essential to promptly address spills and stains to prevent them from seeping into the fibers.
Comfort and Insulation
Berber carpet provides a comfortable and cushioned feel underfoot due to its loop pile construction. It can help reduce noise and provide insulation, helping to keep rooms warmer and more energy-efficient. However, it's worth noting that Berber carpet tends to have a firmer texture compared to plush or cut-pile carpets.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is important to keep Berber carpet looking its best. Vacuuming regularly and promptly addressing spills or stains are essential for preserving its appearance and longevity. It's recommended to use a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar or brush designed for use on loop pile carpets.
Whether you're looking for a carpet that can withstand heavy foot traffic, provide a textured visual appeal, or offer stain resistance, Berber carpet is worth considering. It is very popular in bedrooms and living rooms, thanks to its comfy characteristics. And when you need to keep your carpet in good condition, Nip Tuck Carpet Repair has the skills needed to do so. Don’t hesitate to reach out when your berber carpet needs a little TLC.

Help for Pet Damaged Carpet
For many, a house is not a home without a furry family member. But as anyone with cats or dogs can tell you, they can have some destructive bad habits. Like, urinating in the same spot, digging holes in carpet, or scratching carpeting on stairs. And while training and extra attention can help you break them of habits like these, what are you supposed to do with the damage that has already been done?
When pets damage carpet, it often looks like holes, tears, and stains that can be unsightly and potentially hazardous. Fortunately, carpet patching and stretching can be effective solutions to this problem.
Problems Patching Can Help With
Carpet patching involves cutting out the damaged portion of the carpet and replacing it with a new piece of carpet. This can be done by a professional carpet installer, who will carefully measure and cut the replacement piece to ensure a seamless and secure fit. The installer will also carefully match the color and texture of the replacement piece to the surrounding carpet, so the repair is nearly invisible. So for parts of carpet where your beloved pet has dug a hole, carpet patching can make it look like it never happened.
Carpet Stretching
Carpet stretching is another technique that can be used to fix carpet that has been damaged by pets. Over time, carpets can become loose and wrinkled, especially in areas where pets like to play or scratch. This can create tripping hazards and make the carpet look unsightly. A professional carpet installer can use a specialized tool called a power stretcher to stretch the carpet and remove any wrinkles or bumps. This will make the carpet look new and eliminate any tripping hazards. Wrinkles are more prone to develop where there is moisture. So, if your pet kept urinating in the same spot and caused wrinkling as a result, stretching can make your carpet as good as new.
It's important to note that while carpet patching and stretching can be effective solutions for pet damage, prevention is always the best strategy. How to Know When It Is Time to Replace Carpet Padding
Carpet padding is an essential component of any carpet installation. It lies between the subfloor and the carpet, providing insulation, cushioning, and support for the carpet. However, over time, carpet padding can become damaged, which can affect the performance and lifespan of the carpet. You may not even realize your carpet padding is worn and damaged because, hey, out of sight, out of mind. But there are a few ways you can tell that yours may have reached the end of its life. Here we are going to talk about some of the most common reasons your padding becomes damaged as well as signs that tell you it is time to replace it.
One of the most common ways that carpet padding can become damaged is through moisture exposure. When carpet padding gets wet, it can start to deteriorate, causing it to lose its cushioning properties and become compressed. This can lead to the carpet feeling hard and flat, and it can also create an environment for mold and mildew to grow.
Another common cause of damage to carpet padding is natural wear and tear. Over time, heavy foot traffic can cause the padding to become compressed, which can reduce its ability to provide cushioning and support for the carpet. Additionally, if furniture is regularly moved across the carpet, it can cause the padding to shift or bunch up, which can also affect its performance.
To determine if carpet padding needs to be replaced, there are a few key signs to look out for. One of the most obvious signs is if the carpet feels flat or hard to the touch. This can indicate that the padding has become compressed or worn down, and it is no longer providing adequate cushioning for the carpet.
Another sign that carpet padding needs to be replaced is if there are noticeable lumps or bumps in the carpet. This can happen if the padding has shifted or bunched up, which can cause the carpet to become uneven or lumpy. On top of being unsightly, this can also create tripping hazards and make the carpet less comfortable to walk on.
Finally, if there is any visible mold or mildew on the carpet or padding, it should be replaced immediately. Mold and mildew can cause health problems and create an unpleasant odor in the home, so it is important to address the problem as soon as possible.
At its best, carpet padding provides cushioning and support for carpet and helps create soft, comfortable flooring. At its worst, however, it can make for a visually unappealing space and an uncomfortable floor that is unpleasant to walk on. If you have noticed that your carpet is not as soft as it used to be or you have seen lumps and bumps develop, Nip Tuck Carpet Repair can help. Give us a call and rest assured that whatever ails your carpet, we can fix it.

When this happens, commercial carpet repair can be an effective solution for restoring the carpet to its original condition and ensuring that it continues to provide the desired benefits.
One of the main benefits of commercial carpet repair is cost savings. Replacing a large area of commercial carpet can be expensive, and it may not always be necessary. By repairing damaged sections of the carpet, business owners can save money and extend the life of their investment. In addition, repairs can often be completed quickly and with minimal disruption to business operations, allowing companies to maintain their productivity and avoid downtime.
Another advantage of commercial carpet repair is improved safety. Carpets that are frayed or have loose fibers can pose a tripping hazard, which can be especially dangerous in high-traffic areas. By repairing these issues, business owners can create a safer environment for employees and visitors and reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
Commercial carpet repair can also help to maintain the appearance of the space. Stains, burns, and other types of damage can make carpets look worn and unattractive, which can give a negative impression to customers and visitors. By repairing these issues, business owners can restore the appearance of the carpet and enhance the overall look of the space. This can be especially important for businesses that rely on their appearance to attract customers or that want to maintain a professional and polished image.
Finally, commercial carpet repair can help to improve indoor air quality. Carpets can trap dirt, dust, and other allergens, which can cause respiratory issues for employees and visitors. By repairing damaged sections of the carpet, business owners can ensure that their carpet is clean and free of allergens, which can improve the air quality of the space and create a healthier environment for everyone.
All in all, commercial carpet repair is a valuable investment for businesses of all types and sizes. What to Know About Carpet Types
There is something so comforting and classic about carpeting, whether residential or commercial. If you are starting out on a carpet installation project or a carpet replacement project, you will quickly find that there are many types of carpet to choose from. The best way to decide which type is right for your space is to know the qualities of each one. Which is why we are going to do a quick run down of carpet types and their characteristics here today.
The Two Main Carpet Categories
No matter the style, all carpeting falls into two main categories.
Cut Pile
The first category is cut pile. After the fibers are loomed together and little loops are created, the loops are then cut open. Hence the name, cut pile. These types of carpets are generally dense and soft, which makes them shine in spaces that you want to be cozy and welcoming, such as a bedroom or a living room. Included in the cut pile category are plush and frieze styles. Plush carpet is often chosen for rooms that you wish to have a more formal appearance and frieze carpet is typically a more casual choice. Frieze can come in a range of fiber lengths with the most dramatic being shag carpeting.
Loop Pile
The second category is loop pile. For this category of carpet, the fiber loops remain uncut. This creates a durable and stain resistant material. These qualities make loop pile a popular choice for high traffic areas, especially commercial spaces. Berber is the most notable style in the loop pile category. Berber carpet is constructed of short level loops that make it excellent for high traffic spaces. Some loop pile carpeting is constructed of differing multi-level loops. The changing loop height gives the carpet pattern and texture.
And that’s the basics of the two main categories of carpeting. Whatever carpet you end up going with, in whatever setting, Nip Tuck Carpet Repair would be happy to be a part of your maintenance team. When burns, stains, or buckles appear, give us a call and we will make them disappear.

How to Keep Carpets Clean During the Winter
Our Nip tuck Carpet Repair team operates out of the state of Colorado. If you are in our service area, you know that snow is a common occurrence during the cold Winter months here. Snow, ice, and ice melt can all introduce unique challenges in your efforts to keep your carpets clean. Here are some tips you can use this season to prevent dingy, damaged carpets as a result of slushy snow.
Keep Walkways Clear
When it comes to keeping carpets fresh and clean during the snowy months, prevention is going to be your key to success. One thing you can do to prevent snow and dirt from being tracked into your home is to keep the walkway in front of your house cleared. Shovel away fresh snow, use a push broom to clear dirt and debris from the walkway, and keep rock salt nearby so that you can easily put down a layer of ice melt when you need it.
Lay Down a Few Mats
Another line of defense can come in the form of doorway mats. Make sure you have a mat outside your home entrances, as well as directly inside. Have everyone in the house make it a habit to stomp the snow and dirt off their shoes before they enter the home and again before they put their shoes away.
In a similar vein, make sure that the family dog doesn't bring in mud and snow either! On particularly wet and snowy days, keep a dry, clean towel by the door. That way, you can thoroughly wipe their paws before they reenter the house.
Institute a No Shoes Inside Rule
And one of the biggest ways to keep your carpets spotlessly clean is to just not wear shoes in the house. Place a shoe rack near your main entrances so that you avoid the dreaded shoe pile. If your family members are big fans of wearing shoes inside the house, maybe buy everyone a new pair designated solely for inside use.
If at the end of the snowy season, your carpets look worse for wear despite your best efforts, a professional carpet cleaning should get them right back to good condition. If, however, there are spots that just won’t come up even after a professional cleaning, we can help. We can patch permanently soiled portions of carpet with ease!

Repairing Your Carpet May Help You Get Your Apartment Deposit Back
Getting your deposit back after moving out of an apartment can be a challenging task. One of the most common reasons why people struggle with this is due to pet damage. Fortunately, some solutions can help you get your deposit back and keep your carpet looking its best. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we have been providing effective and efficient carpet restoration services for years.
Stains
Having pets in an apartment can be challenging, especially if you have to arrange a time for them to use the restroom. It can also be hard to let them out when you're working, and they might get sick. In addition, dirt and mud can get collected from the outside. All of this can lead to stains on your carpet that will need to be removed.
To get the stained area clean, you should use a spray bottle that has a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar. After spraying the stain, take a paper towel or a rag and press it into the area to absorb the cleaning solution. Then, add baking soda to the mixture to eliminate any remaining odors. Continue to allow the stain to dry completely. If the stain is still there, you might need to repeat the process.
Holes
If your dog or cat caused holes in your carpets from digging, there are steps you can take to fix the problem. You won't always have to have your entire carpet replaced. Instead, the damaged area can be patched. It may be a little tricky to accomplish this and you will need to find a donor piece to use.
A donor patch is a type of carpet that you can use to replace the damaged portion of your carpet. Usually, homes have spare carpet pieces that are stored away from the original installation. However, you will not be able to find this in your apartment.
To find the size of the patch that you need, you will need to borrow a piece from a nearby area. This can be from the back of your closet or another inconspicuous area. If you are not confident that you can complete the patch repair on your own, give the professionals at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair a call. We will make sure that the job is done as seamlessly as possible, and we will help you get your deposit back. Give us a call today!

Carpet for Every Area of Your Home
Carpet is favorite for many when it comes to home flooring. If you are considering replacing old carpet or putting in new carpet, it is important that you are well informed beforehand. Afterall, the flooring you choose will be with you for decades, you want to make sure that you make the right choice for your home. Here are some things that you should know regarding carpet materials, types, and best placement for carpet.
Types of Carpet to Know About
There are two main categories of carpet, cut pile and loop pile constructions.
For loop pile, hundreds of small pieces of looped fabric form the carpet. These types of carpets hold up extremely well to heavy traffic, but since they tend to be a coarser texture, they are largely used in utilitarian spaces.
Cut pile, on the other hand, is when those looped fibers are cut open at the top. This type of construction is not as heavily durable as loop piles, but they are much softer. That is why you will often see cut pile carpets in homes and loop pile carpets in commercial settings.
Other than construction types, it is also important to know what materials carpets are available in.
Wool: Wool is a natural fabric that you can find carpets in. It is a renewable resource which makes it a green choice, and it is soft under foot.
Olefin: Olefin is a very strong synthetic fiber. It is coarse and tough and a popular choice for children’s play areas.
Nylon: A strong and stain resistant material is nylon. If you want something that will hold up well in a hallway or an area with lots of foot traffic, this is a great option.
Polyester: Polyester excels at resisting liquids which makes it stain resistant. It is also a very soft material and popular for living areas and bedrooms.
All in all, when you know which types and materials of carpet do best in different areas of your home, you can choose the one that will look the best, feel the best, and last the longest in that setting. If you have seen that your carpet is not standing up to daily wear as much as it should, give Nip & Tuck a call before you consider replacing it. You may be surprised at the like-new results we can achieve with repairs.

How to Get Rid of Fleas in Carpet in 5 Easy Steps
Fleas are a common problem for pet owners, but they can also be a problem for people who don't have pets. These little bugs thrive in humid environments and can easily jump from one surface to another. Flea bites can itch and even transmit diseases, so it's best to get rid of them before they become a more significant issue.
The first step is to vacuum your carpets thoroughly. This will help to remove any fleas that are already present on the carpet. Be sure to empty the vacuum bag after each use so the fleas cannot escape back into the carpet.
The second step is to treat your carpets with a Fleacide. There are many different products on the market that will kill fleas and their eggs. Be sure to follow the instructions on the packaging carefully.
The third step is to use a Flea Bomb. This powerful product will kill all the fleas in your home, including those hiding in your carpets. Be sure to follow the instructions on the packaging carefully.
The fourth step is to prevent fleas from returning in the future. The best way to do this is to keep your carpets clean and free of dirt and debris. You should also vacuum regularly and treat your carpets with a Fleacide on a regular basis. By following these simple steps, you can keep your carpets free of fleas for good.
The final step in this flea-elimination process is to clean your home using diatomaceous earth. This natural product is made from the fossilized remains of algae, and it is highly effective at killing fleas and their eggs. To use it, sprinkle a thin layer of diatomaceous earth over all of the surfaces in your home. Be sure to pay special attention to areas where your pets spend the most time, such as their beds and favorite resting spots. After allowing the diatomaceous earth to work its magic for 24 hours, vacuum thoroughly to remove any residue. Following these steps will help to ensure that your home is free of fleas.
And as always, if you notice damage to your carpets as a result of fleas, such as balding, do not hesitate to call your friends here at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair. We can patch balding and discolored carpets easily.

Remedies for Wine Stains
Hey, accidents happen! Sometimes those accidents come in the form of spilled wine. Red wine is a notoriously dreaded stain. It's bright in color and can be difficult to completely remove all the leftover pigment on your carpet. If your carpet has been the victim of a wine spill, there are some ways to successfully remove them. Here’s how.
Act Fast!
One of the most important things to remember when it comes to wine stains is that time is of the essence. It is more than likely that when a glass of wine is spilled, there will be people around to notice it. This allows you to take swift action to control the stain. Remember to blot the stain with a clean, white towel. Never rub it in! A fresh stain will always be easier to remove than one that is set and dry.
Break Out the Salt
After you have blotted most of the liquid from the carpet, let salt handle the rest. Just dump a generous amount of table salt on the spill. The salt will draw the excess liquid out from the carpet fibers. You will notice that the pile is working as it turns from white to pink. Ideally, leave the salt to do its job overnight. Then, the next morning simply vacuum it all away.
Raid the First Aid Kit
Another effective stain remover can be found in your first aid kit. Great for more than just sterilizing cuts, hydrogen peroxide is amazing at lifting color from stains. It is great at lifting color altogether, so this solution will only work for lighter carpets as hydrogen peroxide can bleach darker carpets. To utilize peroxide for wine stains, soak a white cloth in 3 percent peroxide. Then, dab it onto the affected area. Allow the peroxide to sit on the stain for a few minutes and then blot it away with another clean towel.
So don’t panic over spilled wine. Next time an accident occurs, just remember these solutions! But if you do find that a spill just won’t lift, we can help. Our team at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair can patch stubborn stains so that they look as good as new.

Household Items that Double as Carpet Cleaners
The only way to avoid stains on carpet is to not live around carpet at all. Of course, this is not reasonable! Carpet is plush, warm, and inviting, which is why it is so popular in homes today. But you do not have to live with stains on your carpet. In fact, there are items that you probably already have at home that can help you get rid of the stains on your carpet. Here are a couple of effective solutions to try if you don’t feel like running out to grab a carpet stain remover.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is famously great at absorbing odors. If you are dealing with a pet accident related stain, the smell it can leave behind is the most unappealing aspect. To combat this, grab your trusty box of baking soda and sprinkle it over the affected area. Let it sit for an hour or overnight. The longer it is allowed to dwell on the spot, the more odor it will absorb. Vacuum the baking soda up after it has been allowed to sit for the desired amount of time.
Vinegar
In order to combat odor and discoloration, vinegar is your best friend. Mix equal part water and vinegar into a spray bottle and saturate the problem area. Dab the solution away with a clean paper towel or cloth. The vinegar smell will linger for a brief period but will soon dissipate, along with any other offensive odors.
Acetone
Have you ever clumsily spilled a bottle of nail polish on your carpet? No need to fret. Nail polish remover can save the day. A dye free acetone is key since you do not want to cause more stains to appear. Test a small inconspicuous portion of carpet first. Once you are sure that the acetone and your carpet are compatible, soak a cotton ball in the nail polish remover. Then dab the cotton ball over the spilled nail polish. Repeat the process until all the polish is lifted.
The next time your carpet faces a spill, you don’t have to run out to the store to get a carpet cleaner. An effective solution may already be in your cabinets. But if you have tried everything to erase a spill and nothing is working, call Niptuck Carpet Repair. We can patch your carpet so that it looks as good as new.

How to Remove Carpet
Nip Tuck Carpet Repair has been able to help our clients save thousands of dollars when it comes to their carpets. Most carpets that people think need to be replaced can be repaired instead. But there are times when a carpet is beyond repair, or you just wish to update it. If that is where you find yourself, save yourself a bit of cash by tearing out old carpet yourself. Aside from a bit of elbow grease, it's an easy task. Here’s how to do it.
Remove Molding
If your carpet was installed under moldings and trim, carefully remove those pieces. You can do so using a pry bar or a putty knife. Get behind the board with your tool of choice and carefully work the nails out. If the trim and moldings look like they are in good condition still, save them to be installed later.
Cut Carpet into Small Strips
Without any obstacles in the way, you can begin working on the carpet. The first thing to do is cut the carpet into smaller, manageable pieces. A box cutter is ideal for this, but make sure that whatever tool you are using is sharp. Slice the carpet all the way through to the padding.
Remove and Dispose of the Carpet
Once the carpet is cut into manageable strips, begin pulling the carpet away from the tack strips. Roll the carpet pieces up and place them in a heavy-duty garbage bag and throw them away.
Before you toss all your carpeting away, think about if you could use any remnant pieces. For example, some people find it useful to keep a couple squares of carpet in the trunk of their car. That way, if your car is ever stuck, you can place the carpet squares under your tires for traction.
Remove the Tack Strips
The final step is to remove the remaining tack strips. These are glued down boards along the perimeter of a room with nails sticking up, which are designed to grab the carpet and hold it in place. Since these are very sharp, be sure to wear thick protective gloves. Using the forked side of a pry bar, work it under the tack strips. They should pop up when released from the subfloor, so wearing goggles is a good idea as well. Dispose of the tack strips when they have been completely removed.
And that’s really all there is to it! Once all your carpet has been removed, all that’s left to do is install your new flooring.

How to Get Rid of Carpet Dents
When heavy furniture sits on top of carpet for long periods of time, it crushes the fibers where it rests. This results in divots or dents in your carpet where the furniture once was. You may have noticed this cosmetic issue if you have ever rearranged your furniture. Not to worry, though. Carpet dents can be easily removed, and we are going to share how to do it.
Remove Carpet Dents with a Blow Dryer
If you want to try and remove carpet dents on your own, we recommend enlisting the help of a blow dryer. The heat from the blow dryer is enough to raise the fibers from the bottom of the carpet and force them back into place. The following is a step-by-step guide to using your blow dryer to remove carpet dents.
1. Spritz the crushed area with enough water to saturate the carpet fibers
First, mist the crushed fibers with water. A spray bottle is great for this. The carpet fibers will absorb the water and become more malleable.
2. Then, use the handheld appliance to blow-dry the damp area
The heat from the blow dryer should be on low and will help raise the fibers from the bottom of the carpet and force them back into place. Work around the dent in circular motions.
Blow-dry the area until the fibers are loosened and in the correct position. You can alter the angle of your blow dryer to try and change the direction of the fibers. It will help you get them back into place more quickly.
An iron with steam settings is also a great tool for this purpose. To use an iron, place a towel over the dented area to avoid burning the fibers. Then, steam the affected area. And finally, move the iron in circular motions over the covered carpet. This should produce the same results as the blow dryer method.
3. As the carpet dries, fluff up the fibers with your fingers
As the fibers begin to dry, they will start to fluff up. It will make them easier to lift and manipulate into their new positions. Once dry, vacuum the area to get the fibers back into their fluffiest state.
Sometimes furniture like heavy chairs and sofas can leave behind more than just crushed carpet. Heavy furniture in addition to regular scooting or dragging against carpets often results in holes in the piles. When this happens, give your friends at Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair a call. We can repair your carpet for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.

Can You Glue Fraying Carpet
Fraying carpet can be a real eyesore. When you first notice that your carpet is fraying, acting immediately is important to prevent spreading. But what action needs to be taken? What can mend fraying carpet and stop balding in its tracks?
Glue Can Help
Frayed carpet can be helped by using glue. But you must make sure that you are working with the right kind of glue for the best results. For this project, avoid using any type of non-water- based glues. This way when water meets the glued carpet in the future, it will not break down. A hot glue gun and hot glue gun sticks are ideal for this purpose.
How to Glue It
To achieve the best adhesion and final look, you first want to prepare your carpet by cleaning it. Collect any loose fibers from the carpet pile and dispose of them. Then, vacuum the area. Lastly, use a carpet cleaner to really clear the area of any dirt. Allow the carpet to dry fully before you continue. Now you can use your hot glue gun to glue the fibers into place. Work quickly and use your fingers to coax the pile where it needs to be. Allow the glue to dry fully.
What to Do When Glue Is Not Enough
You can use hot glue to mend carpet, but only to a point. This method of mending is best used for small patches of frayed carpet. When damaged carpet gets too large and out of control, what can you do? If this is your situation, do not worry. You can still renew the look of your carpet without going with a costly full carpet replacement. When you have big carpet repairs that need to be handled, call Nip Tuck Carpet Repair for help. We can stretch out lumps and buckles and we can replace portions of carpet that need to be patched. Give us a call for a free quote!

Are Tack Strips Important
Our team at Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair is called in to fix and repair many carpeting issues. We handle all problems, from frayed carpets to buckling seams. Many cases come to the surface mainly due to poor installation. Possessing the ability to demand quality service is caused by identifying substandard craft. One of the elementary units to do this is understanding the different components needed for proper carpet installation.
Contractors and artisans often possess knowledge of a particular trade that you do not. There is no problem with that, and that's the main reason you hired them in the first place. But if you suspect you're dealing with a company that does not provide quality services, they will depend on your lack of knowledge to get away with things they should not. By arming yourself with a bit of carpet know-how, you can protect yourself from such situations. Our goal is to help you do just that. That's why we want to elaborate more on what tack strips are and why they are essential to proper carpet installation.
What Are Tack Strips
Tack strips are long, thin strips of wood that are covered with nails. They lay along the edges of where your base flooring meets your drywall. They are either nailed, glued, or screwed into your subfloor. They are essential since they carry out the vital job of anchoring your carpet in place. When a carpet installation fails, you will quickly notice first near the tack strips. The second function of the tack strips is that they jam the carpet edge into the gap between the tack strip and the wall, giving it a finished appearance with little effort. Knee kickers are well known for helping stretch the carpet over the tack strips, but through our many years of experience, we have found out that the results that come from those don't last long. We have realized that using a power stretcher is the best way to go for an enduring effect. It's essential that the next time you are having carpet work done, make sure the artisans working on your carpet use a power stretcher and be sure to inspect the seams along your tack strips. If you get to discover ripples in your carpet years later, give us a call to repair it in the right way.

It Is Worth It to Stretch Your Carpets
If you have noticed ripples and buckles in your carpet, you have likely researched solutions. Is a complete carpet replacement the only answer? Absolutely not! Carpet repair in the form of stretching is another option you can take, and it is a lot cheaper of a solution than replacement is. But is carpet stretching worth it? Are the results good enough to forgo replacement?
What Exactly is Carpet Stretching?
When your carpet presents wrinkles and buckles, it is because the material is loosened. This can happen for a number of reasons, but the most common are because of humidity and the dragging of heavy objects across the surface. With the help of specialized tools like a power stretcher, your carpet is stretched tightly once again and secured firmly onto the tack strips.
Why Should You Stretch Your Carpet?
Due to the nature of carpet itself, it is only natural that it will relax over time. With heavy foot traffic, moving of furniture, and general age, wrinkles are bound to develop. In addition, there are times when carpet is not installed properly in the first place. Sometimes, installers will use knee kickers instead of a power stretcher to complete the job faster. Knee kickers just do not produce the same long-term results that a power stretcher does. Considering all these factors, carpet stretching is something you should think of in terms of necessary maintenance from time to time. Having your carpets stretched as a maintenance service when needed will ensure that the lifespan of your carpets is extended as long as possible.
In conclusion, yes, we believe that carpet stretching is worth it. If your carpet is in good condition aside from some wrinkles, you do not need to embark on an inconvenient and expensive replacement. If you think that this service is something that your carpet needs, contact us here at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair today! We would love to be a part of your maintenance routine. We also perform carpet patching for stubborn stains and burn areas.

Simple Tips for Keeping Your Carpets Clean
Few things can enhance a home’s ambiance and décor more easily than carpet. It provides a soft texture across the floor that absorbs sounds and cushions your feet as you walk. Unfortunately, carpet can get stained and worn. When this happens, the carpet becomes a detriment to home décor. The good news is that you can take a few easy steps on a regular basis to optimize your carpet’s life and appearance. What can you do to take great care of your carpet?
Clean the Floor Regularly
The thick fibers in carpet tend to cling to debris that falls to the floor. When the floor is vacuumed regularly, you will remove most of the debris before it has had time to sift into the fibers. More than that, vacuuming on a weekly basis will keep the carpet piles soft and plush. This is one of the easiest steps that you can take to keep your home clean and your floors looking great.
Deodorize with Baking Soda
Baking soda has natural deodorizing properties, and it is completely safe to use on all types of carpeting. Once a month, sprinkle the powder on top of the carpet throughout the home. Wait a few minutes for the baking soda to work its magic. Then, vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove unpleasant odors, dirt, and the baking soda.
Tackle Stains Without Delay
The unfortunate reality is that your carpet will be exposed to spills and other mishaps many times over the years. The best time to tackle a spill is as soon as possible. After all, pet stains, fluid spills and more that are allowed to penetrate deep into the fibers could become a permanent part of the flooring. Remember to blot the stained area when you are cleaning it. Rubbing the area may cause the stain to set.

Keep Your Carpet Free of Mold
Carpeting can add a lot to your home. It can add comfort and warmth. But it can be hard to enjoy those benefits if your carpet has developed a musty smell. This musty smell is usually the result of mold. Mold is obviously something that no one wants marring their beautiful carpets, so how can you get rid of it or even stop it from developing in the first place?
Airflow
Mold develops when moisture is allowed to stagnate in a warm environment. Making sure that a carpeted room receives enough airflow is one way that you can fight off the development of mold. Open windows when it is nice out and run fans occasionally when it is not.
Temperature
As was mentioned, mold needs a warm environment to thrive. This can make mold an especially tough enemy during the Winter months when you may regularly run your heating system and may even employ space heaters. But by not keeping your home overly warm, you can combat this dreaded foe.
Humidity
And of course, one of the biggest contributors to mold growth is the presence of humidity or moisture. Humidity that is in the air can settle into your carpets and produce the perfect breeding ground for mold. That is why carpet near kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms are more susceptible to mold growth. If your carpeted rooms tend to run humid, enlisting the help of a dehumidifier can work to control it.
Your carpeting material is also a contributing factor to mold growth. Some carpets are more prone to moisture retention than others. But that is not something everyone can control since most people bought their homes already carpeted or they live in rental properties. But it is something to bear in mind if you ever do need to completely replace your carpet.
If you take care to control all the factors we discussed here today, you will definitely be able to keep mold at bay. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity can cause more problems than just mold growth, however. If your carpet is experiencing ripples and wrinkles, those factors could be why. But ripples and buckles are not things that you just have to learn to deal with. Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair can properly stretch and repair your carpet. Give us a call if you need carpet repair!

Does DIY Carpet Repair Work
If your carpet has suffered a burn or has something like candle wax embedded into it, you have likely googled ways to remove it. The problem is that some of these DIY solutions may end up doing more harm than good. Here is how.
Trim the Carpet
One DIY solution you may have come across is to trim damaged carpet and glue replacement fibers in its place. The problem with this is that the results just will not be long lasting. The glued pieces are more likely to break away from the rest of the carpet with repeated vacuuming and with regular traffic. If you decide to just trim the damaged carpet at the tips and not the base, the trouble is that then you are left with a bald spot. And then it can be difficult or impossible to blend the carpet well, thus the end result is not likely to look as seamless as you want it to.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Some may be drawn to hydrogen peroxide or bleach as a solution because they figure that a burn mark has only discolored the carpet. Meaning that they can use bleach or hydrogen peroxide to lighten the carpet back to normal. If something has scorched your carpet, however, it has done more than stain it. If your carpet is burned, it means that the fibers have also been melted or destroyed. So, mending that piece of carpet will require more than trying to lift the scorch mark.
Scouring Pad
Knowing what kind of carpet you have is an important first step in knowing how to care for it. This is important to know because your first inclination when battling burns, stains, gum, or wax is to scrub at it. But if you have berber, loop pile, or wool carpet and you take a scouring pad to it, not only will it not remove the issue, it will leave you with frayed tufts of carpet. Leaving your carpet in worse condition than before.
Of course, it is important to do what you can to care for your carpet, but most of the time DIY repairs will leave you with subpar results. If you have damaged carpet and want to save money when repairing it, give Niptuck Carpet Repair a call. We can provide you with satisfying professional results at just a fraction of the cost of a replacement.

When Can You Refresh Carpet and When Should You Replace It
If you have lived in your home for several years, you will at some point notice an inevitable degradation in the quality of your carpet. The difference may be easily seen in stark contrast if you move a piece of stationary furniture after many years and compare the carpet underneath to the rest of it. All things degrade over time. Such is the nature of the universe’s entropy. Your first inclination may be to simply tear out the carpet and replace it. Indeed, that is sometimes the best option, but is rarely the most affordable one. Depending on its condition, the carpet may still have some life in it yet. It may just need to be refreshed a bit.
Dirt and stains may only be the beginning of a carpet’s problems. You may notice bulges or wrinkles, or perhaps areas that have receded from the wall. If you have pets or kids, it may also have more than its fair share of cuts and bald spots. Even so, this does not necessarily mean that the entire carpet is a lost cause. Our hope for this article is that we can help you recognize your options and make an informed decision on how best to restore your flooring to a state you’re happy with.
If you plan on restoring your current carpet, the first step is usually to have it professionally cleaned. There are many machines on the market that can be rented on a consumer level, but most of these simply do not have the ability to clean as thoroughly or deeply as a full suite of professional equipment. There are many local and nationwide companies that specialize in residential carpet cleaning. In our experience, the smaller local companies tend to do a better job, even if their prices are slightly higher. This is because they rely on getting good reviews to sustain their business. Just be sure to research the local companies in your area and pick one with a good reputation. Once the carpet is all sparkly clean, you can give us a call for the next steps.
Nip Tuck specializes in repairing a wide range of carpet damage and other issues. Our experience and skills allow us to tackle basically any type of damage. Carpet repairs and patching are some of our main specialties, alongside stretching and de-wrinkling. We can even take care of stubborn stains that are unable to be removed via cleaning by cutting and patching the problem areas.
Granted, there are many instances where full carpet replacement may be the best option, such as cases of severe water or fire damage. But you may be surprised with how much your carpet can spring back to life with a bit of TLC.
Carpet has many advantages, especially for multi-story homes. Carpet can provide insulation for both heat and sound. Carpeted floors are proven to lose less heat than wood or tile flooring, and the sound barrier they create can lessen the noise of people moving around on the floor above.
There are many good reasons to have carpet in your home and keeping them clean and appealing can help you stay satisfied with your home. If you are wondering whether your carpet can be refreshed, contact Nip Tuck today for a free quote and we can help you get the process started. We just might be able to get your old carpet looking just as pretty as the day you installed it.

A Guide To Choosing Carpet Padding
Choosing the right color and fabric combination for new carpeting is fun and exciting. Many carpet purchasers think long and hard about the type of carpet they want, but not very much about the type of padding they would like under the carpet. Although picking out the correct carpet padding may not be as exciting as picking out the carpet, this decision will have a great impact on the final product spanning the floor. The desired level of comfort has as much to do with the padding, as it does with the carpet choice.
Is Carpet Padding Needed?
In order to make each step on new carpeting as comfortable as possible, carpet padding is an absolute necessity. Carpet padding helps to absorb the impact from your foot to the floor, making it more comfortable to walk on. The padding also will help with room acoustics, absorbing sounds being created within the room. When there are several floors in a building the padding will help cut down hearing neighbors walking across the floor and even other sounds, such as a stereo system or tv. Insulation is one of the biggest benefits of carpet padding. The padding helps retain desired temperatures in the home, by keeping air from escaping. While carpet padding does all of the mentioned, it even can lower energy bills for a household, so in other words, carpet padding is needed in all cases.
How Thick?
There are different carpet padding needs, so it comes in many different thicknesses. However, the general rule is to not have it be more than one-half-inch thick. Higher traffic areas, such as hallways or commercial building floors can use thinner versions of carpet padding. However, for bedrooms or living rooms that generally need a higher level of comfort, thicker carpet padding is recommended. When a carpet is laid down without any carpet padding present, the life of the carpet can be dramatically shortened. What Kinds of Carpet Padding Are Available? There are a great number of carpet padding options available, and they all have perks and downsides, so take the time to truly get to know the differences between the options. Bonded Foam Carpet Padding is the most often used padding for carpets. Prime Foam Carpet Padding is a relatively inexpensive and comfortable option. For a very long-lasting carpet padding, Frothed Foam Carpet Padding can be used. Memory Foam Carpet Padding is a great option for bedrooms and living rooms, but not for high-traffic areas. Fiber Carpet Padding is used in many commercial settings. With so many choices, there is an option for any carpet installation.
If you still have questions about carpet padding or just simply need it installed, give Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair a call. We would love to help you.

How to Identify Poor Carpet Installation
Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair is often called in to repair carpet that is suffering as a result of improper installation. So, we know the signs of a job that’s not well done, and we want to help you know them too.
They Use the Wrong Equipment
The first thing you want to take notice of is the kind of equipment that your installers are using. The most effective modern tool for installing carpet is a power stretcher. You can identify this tool because it looks like a large jack. The alternative method uses knee-kickers. Knee-kickers look like knee pads and rely on the strength of the installer, whereas a power stretcher uses the strength behind the machine. It’s not surprising that a power stretcher creates a superior installation since it can pull it as taut as possible. When searching for a carpet installer, asking what kind of equipment they use should be a top priority.
They Do a Poor Job Installing Padding
One sign that points to a bad installation is a bumpy, uneven surface. You can test if the bumpiness stems from your carpet by going into the middle of the room and trying to lift the pile up. If you can lift it more than an inch, the carpet itself was not installed properly. If the carpet doesn’t lift that much, the culprit is likely the padding underneath. It would make sense that if your padding is not installed evenly, it will affect the end product. A skilled technician will know how to install padding correctly.
Other Signs
Other signs you can look for when inspecting your carpet are frayed edges where the carpet butts up against the wall, misaligned seams, and ripples, and bumps.
Sadly, not all carpet installers are created equally. Next time you are looking for a company, be sure to ask them the kind of equipment they use, what their certifications are, and read their reviews. If you are suffering from a poor installation already, give us at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair a call. We can stretch and even patch your carpet at a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.

The History of Carpet
Carpet is a classic flooring option. For decades, comfy, plush carpet has been a constant in most family homes. But carpet has been on the scene for much longer than a few decades. It has a rich history in culture, comfort, and craft.
In fact, the oldest known carpet was unearthed from a prince’s tomb of which dates back to the 5th century B.C. It was preserved through an astounding 25 centuries due in part to that fact that grave robbers left the tomb open. Because this tomb was found in the Pazyryk Valley of Siberia, the rug was preserved by being frozen in ice after being exposed to the harsh elements. Although that carpet was discovered in Siberia, carpets are speculated to have gotten their start in the Middle East. They were originally made of sheep or goat wool, sold as rugs, and designed to make sitting on the hard ground more comfortable. Comfort still plays a major role in carpet maintaining its appeal to this day.
Carpet first came to America by means of a Mr. William P. Sprague in 1791. In Philadelphia, Sprague began running the first carpet mill. After being charged with the task of carpeting President Washinton’s residence, more and more mills began cropping up in the early 1800’s.
Another notable member of carpet history is Erastus Bigelow. In 1839 he invented the power loom which transformed the carpet world by speeding up carpet production. We can thank him for many more inventions in his lifetime, including the first broadloom carpet.
Carpets have been a part of world history for a very long time. And they do not seem to be going anywhere soon. Thanks to ever advancing technology, stain resistance, durability, and comfort continue to be at the forefront of carpet manufacturing. That is why, even with the broad range of flooring options available to us today, carpet remains one of the top choices.
When your carpet becomes damaged, reach out to Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair. We can skillfully patch burns and stains as well as stretch away buckles and ripples. All at a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.

How to Remove Older Stains
Obviously, for your best chance at successfully removing a stain, you should address it sooner rather than later. Ideally, right when it happens. But you do not always notice a stain right away. Maybe you have kids or a dog that did it. Even if this is the case, all is not lost. Here are some tips on how to remove an older stain.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Oftentimes, inexpensive, simple household items can get the job done. For example, hydrogen peroxide. Most bottles of hydrogen peroxide that are sold are already diluted. To use it all you need to do is place it in a spray bottle and saturate the spot. Allow it to dwell on the surface for 10-15 minutes. When it is through sitting, you can go in with a stiff brush and scrub at the stain. This will loosen up dirt, debris, and whatever caused the stain, as well as work the peroxide further into the fibers. Finally, you can use a towel to blot the area dry.
White Wine
Red wine is a common carpet stain culprit. If you have a red wine spill that has already dried, you can pour a little white wine over top to reactivate it. From there you can attempt to blot it out. Try to avoid scrubbing so as not to drive the stain deeper into the carpet fibers. You can add more wine and blot in repetition until the stain has been lifted, or at least majorly faded.
Patching
If you have tried multiple different ways to lift an older stain with no luck, there is still one thing you can do. You can remove the stubborn stain by cutting that piece of carpet away and replacing it with a new piece of carpet. This is rightly called carpet patching. Many times, people will have leftover carpet stored away from the original job, which would be an ideal place to select your patch from. But even if you do not have that or maybe you live in an apartment, you can take a patch from an inconspicuous part of the home. Such as the back of a closet. Doing this type of job can be tricky to get right, though. So, if you are nervous about patching the carpet on your own or just want to make sure the finished result looks as seamless as possible, just call Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair. We can give you peace of mind with our affordable and professional services.

Will Going Barefoot Damage My Carpet?
You enter a friend’s house and what is the first thing you do? It might be that you take off your shoes. This is good because wearing shoes on carpet tracks in mud, dirt, and dust. Even if it isn’t noticeable to the eye, this regular foot traffic tracks junk in. And the hard soles also wear down the fibers and cause damage.
But what about going barefoot, that must be better right? Actually, bare feet can cause even more damage to your carpet. The moisture and oils from human skin leave a residue on your carpet which attracts and holds any dust or dirt. Rather than just vacuuming dirt up it becomes a stain that can be very difficult to remove.
The best way to keep your carpet clean is to wear socks or house slippers. Socks are great because they keep the sweat from your skin off the carpet, they don’t have a hard sole that will break down your carpet, and they won’t track dirt in because they are kept clean inside your shoes while you are out and about. Another option is house slippers, but make sure they are never worn outside and opt for a rubber or soft sole if you can.
This simple habit of removing your shoes and wearing socks or house slippers instead can keep your carpet looking fresh and new.
Other Things to Consider
Prevention is best, but no matter how much we try, dust, dander, and dirt happen. Because of this, regular vacuuming is vital to increasing the life of your carpets. You will also want to consider shampooing your carpets yearly or as spills occur.
Professional Services
If you think your carpet is too far gone and needs to be replaced, look at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair’s Before & After gallery. You may be surprised how much carpet stretching or a carpet patch can do to bring your carpet back to life. If you have any questions, contact the experts at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair.

Should I Clean My Carpet Before or After the Stretch
“Should I get my carpets cleaned before or after the stretching?” The popular thought is, if you clean the carpets after stretching them, the cleaning will loosen the carpet back up and the wrinkles will return. This is actually a very common misconception. It is more beneficial to stretch the carpets BEFORE getting them cleaned. Let’s examine some of the reasons for this.
CLEANING LOOSE CARPET: The looser the carpet, the more difficult it is to clean. Have you ever tried to run a vacuum over a rug in your home? Can you recall what the biggest issue was as you attempted this? Typically the rug will bunch up, making it nearly impossible to get a good run over the rug with the vacuum. If your carpet has very large ripples in it, the cleaner’s wand (which is used to dispense and suction water) can have the same issues. You may not get as good of a clean out of your carpet as you could when it is pulled tight.
AFTER A STRETCH: Sometimes wrinkles are left unattended for a decent amount of the time. Perhaps the owner didn’t think it bothered them at first. Maybe they felt it would cost too much money. Whatever the reason, when it finally comes to stretching those wrinkles out, sometimes visible lines can be left behind. This could be likened to bending a piece of paper in half, unfolding it, and letting it sit flat on the table. The paper has a creased mountain where it was folded. When you pull the edges and flatten out the crease, there is still a visible line left behind where you had previously folded it. Cleaning the carpet after a stretch can cause these lines to disappear.
CONCLUSION: If you want the best clean for your carpet and don’t want to risk having visible wrinkle lines even after it is pulled taut, get the cleaning done after the stretch. When your carpets are stretched properly with a power stretcher, there is no risk of those wrinkles returning because of a cleaning. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair we work closely with some very reputable carpet cleaning companies that can usually come out the same day as us to get those carpets looking like new again.

Where Does the Carpet From a Patch Come From
Some of the most common causes of carpet damage are burns, rips, stains, and pet damage. Rather than replacing an entire room, the answer to such problems is a patch or seam that will last and blend in perfectly.
Patches are one of the most common repairs that we do. When you call our office needing a patch the receptionist will ask a series of questions to determine the size of the patch, where it is located, and if pad is needed. One of the most important questions we will ask is if you have extra remnants of the matching carpet from when it was installed.
Why is it best to have a matching remnant?
The best case scenario is to have the patch piece come from the same roll of carpet the rest of the room was installed with. Color, pattern, and feel of the carpet are just a few reasons the patch will look best when taken from the same roll. There are many factors that play into how unnoticeable a patch will be when the work is complete, but if you have matching remnants available this will ensure the best possible results.
What if I don’t have extra matching carpet?
There is no need to panic yet. For instance, is there a matching closet that we could possibly take from? Many people have closets or pantries that have the same carpet. It is common for us to take from an inconspicuous area such as the back corner of a closet and use it to patch the area. What if the patch is so large the entire closet needs to be removed? Some of our customers prefer to provide a piece of carpet for us to install back into the closet. Others have had us remove the pad, add a metal transition strip in the doorway, and had us paint the subfloor white. Depending on the kind of surface underneath the pad, this can look very nice when completed.
What if I don’t have a closet you can take from?
If the damage is small, no larger than a few inches in width, there is another option available. The technician can power stretch a room that has matching carpet and cut off excess carpet to patch the area. This isn’t always the cheapest option, since there would be a charge for the stretch as well as the patch, but it is just as effective for small carpet patches.
Worst case scenario…
If none of these options are possible certain customers have resorted to providing us with a piece of carpet similar to the installed carpet. It is nearly impossible to find the same carpet with the same exact color unless it’s been taken from the same roll. That being said, some of our customers would rather have something put down than stare at the damage. Some have made a trip to Home Depot or Carpet Exchange to try to find a piece close enough to make them happy. We are not able to provide extra remnants or carpet matching services but we will patch in any carpet you provide. This is definitely at the discretion of the customer as we cannot guarantee the carpet will blend in well.
Give us a call today to find out what we can do to patch that rip, pet damage, or stain!

Should You Put Carpet in the Bathroom
Builders and homeowners in the past have made all sorts of interesting choices. From covering over natural wood floors with other flooring materials to putting carpet in the bathroom. Perhaps the idea of stepping out of a shower onto plush, soft carpet is appealing to you. You just think carpet is cozy. But is it actually a good idea to put carpet in the bathroom? Your friends at Nip Tuck Carpet Repair are going to discuss this subject today.
Pros to Bathroom Carpet
Well for starters, like we touched on, many people really enjoy carpet in the bathroom because it is soft and warm. When you step out of a warm and relaxing bath, being greeted by frigid tile floors can be a bit shocking. Or if you stumble to the restroom in the middle of the night, comfy carpet can help you remain in a restful state so that you can return to your dreams easily.
People who care for elderly family members or have little one may like having carpet in the bathrooms because it is more slip resistant. Plus, there are many carpets available today that come with waterproof backing to protect your subfloor from water.
Cons to Bathroom Carpet
Probably one of the most immediate reactions to bathroom carpet is that it is gross. Many people feel this way because toilets, sinks, and trash cans all can be found in the bathroom as well. So, the odds that germs from these sources will find their way to the carpet is high. And since carpet is a naturally absorbent material, it makes it the perfect hiding place for said germs and bacteria. In a similar vein, if carpets are not cleaned regularly in the bathroom, mold is highly likely to develop.
Additionally, one of the biggest contributors to carpet buckling is humidity. Something that a bathroom experiences a lot of. So, carpet in the bathroom may develop unsightly and hazardous buckles quickly.
If you like the benefits that carpet provides in a bathroom but not the downsides, you could always invest in a high-quality bathmat as an alternative. But if you just like the idea of actual carpet in the bathroom, be sure to invest in a water-resistant backing, stay on top of cleaning, and give Nip Tuck Carpet Repair a call if you ever notice buckling. We can stretch your carpet back to normal in no time at all.

What Causes Carpet to Buckle
Have you ever been walking on your carpet only to suddenly trip? If you have ever been troubled by buckled carpet, you may wonder what causes this to happen in the first place. At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we remove carpet buckles on a regular basis. Because we have so much experience with them, we want to let you in on a few of the reasons why they may show up in your home.
Improper Installation
When carpet is installed, it is supposed to be stretched as tightly as possible and then secured along the tack strips. If your installer did not do this well, your carpet may loosen slightly, causing buckles to appear. Ideally, a power stretcher should be used to pull carpet taught during installation. In fact, when we repair carpet with buckles, we only use a power stretcher to ensure that the finished product is as tight and secure as possible.
Dragging Furniture Across Carpet
Another common culprit when it comes to carpet buckles is the moving of heavy furniture along it. When you drag heavy items across your carpet, it inevitably tugs at it. This results in carpet buckles. To avoid this from happening, try your best to fully lift the furniture from the carpet when moving it. If the piece is truly too heavy to do this, try placing a few sheets or cardboard beneath the furniture. This will allow the furniture to glide over the carpet instead of dragging against it.
Humidity
Last but certainly not least is humidity. Humidity is probably the main contributing factor to buckled carpet. If you live in a highly humid environment or one where the temperatures swing widely from hot to cold, you are more likely to experience buckling issues. To combat this, you can leave a dehumidifier in largely carpeted areas. In addition, you can aim to use your air conditioner more often during the Summer months.
Knowing the reasons that carpet can buckle can aid largely in reducing their existence in your home. If you are being plagued by them currently though, do not worry. You do not need to replace your entire carpet in order to get rid of them. Just call Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair and we can stretch your carpet back to normal in no time.

Pros and Cons of Plush Pile Carpet
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we deal with carpet every day. For most homeowners, we know this is not the case for you. Considering the fact that it is recommended that most carpet be replaced every ten years or so, it would make sense that most do not dedicate a ton of time to learning all of the different carpeting terms. That is what we are here for. So today we want to shed light on another style of carpet for you: plush pile.
What Plush Pile?
Plush pile carpet is a type of cut-pile. They are looped and cut to an even, short length. The fibers are positioned very tightly together, resulting in a soft, velvety carpet. Because of these characteristics, some may even advertise this style as a velvet pile carpet.
Pros
In both residential and commercial settings, plush pile is a classic choice. With proper care, this carpet will look great for a long time. It looks great as either a casual or more formal style. It comes in a truly vast variety of colors, from neutrals to bolder ones.
Cons
Due to its velvety manner, foot traffic and vacuum lines can be readily seen on this style of carpet. While this may not be a big deal to some, to others it may be a deal breaker. And as a rule, the softer a carpet is, the less durable it is. Like we mentioned, if cared well for, a plush pile carpet can last you quite some time. But it is not known as the most durable style on the market. So, if you are considering it for a high traffic area, this is something to keep in mind. Plush pile is also quite sponge-like due to its close-knit fiber structure. Meaning that spills and dirt are easily absorbed into the fibers and can be difficult to remove.
Overall, plush pile will provide buyers with soft carpet in a satisfying range of colors. And if you ever struggle with stubborn stains or buckles, know that Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair is only one phone call away.

Is it Worth it to Rent Carpet Repair Tools
Is your carpet damaged, whether from a spill, a pet, or a flood? Carpets don't last forever, but if yours is new or one you hope to keep for a few more years, you might be wondering whether you could fix it yourself instead of calling in a professional or buying a new one altogether. To decide, you will need to consider the cost of renting or buying repair tools and supplies as well as whether the repair will be difficult.
Renting a Carpet Repair Tool
To repair your carpet, you will need a power stretcher and the right tools. As is the case with anything, prices vary, but you should be able to find a power stretcher for around $30-$35/day and carpet repair tools for about $20/day. A professional may run you $100-$300 to do 2-4 rooms, so the first thing to ask yourself is whether you can complete the repair in a day or two.
DIY Carpet Repair
The price might not be a deterrent, but the skills required could be, particularly if you want a top- notch job. Having some do-it-yourself skills can help. You are going to face more challenges if you have a stiff carpet backing and a Berber carpet. You might be able to repair it yourself if you have latex carpet backing, raised trim and a plush carpet, but even so, there are certain challenges that only a professional can really tackle. If it's important to you that the seam be invisible or you just generally have high expectations for how things are going to look when the repair is done, you may be better off calling in the professionals, like us at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair!
Conclusion
Time is money, so do not discount what you will save there either if you have a professional do the work for you. On the other hand, your monetary savings could add up to as much as $150. You will need to balance those considerations against your expectations and your skill to decide which option is right for you. If your main criteria are having the job done as well as possible, calling Nip & Tuck carpet Repair is the best guarantee.

What to Do If Your Carpet Has Fleas
Did you recently notice your dog itching a little bit more than usual? Increased scratching and general irritation might be a symptom of fleas. While these tiny insects seem rather harmless, fleas can cause significant discomfort and other problems for you, your pet, and your family. Just because your pooch has received treatment for fleas before does not mean they are immune from future complications if fleas are still calling your carpet home. So, what is the most effective way to get rid of stubborn fleas? We will share some actionable steps that are effective for getting rid of fleas naturally.
Step One
The process kicks-off rather simply with a thorough vacuuming of the affected area. Be sure to pay careful attention to parts of the carpet where these pests might be gathered. Fleas can typically be found in spots where your dog frequents. Go over the same area more than once in different directions to make sure no pesky fleas are still there. When you have finished vacuuming, take the canister directly to a trash bag and throw it away outside. This way, no fleas can make their way back into your home.
Step Two
Next, you need to slowly and carefully sprinkle a safe insecticide over the carpet. Insecticides such as diatomaceous earth can dry up these pesky critters in seconds. It is easy to find this and other potential options online or at most grocery stores.
Step Three
The oils and scents found in citrus fruits act as a natural deterrent to fleas. Simply place a lemon in one pint of boiling water to create some cheap yet effective homemade flea-repellent. After letting the solution cool, place it in a spray bottle. Apply it on your carpet wherever the fleas were most active. Since the mixture is 100% natural, you could even give your pet a light spray. Just make sure to keep it out of their eyes.
Step Four
The final step to take to rid your house of fleas is by using essential oils. Citronella, rosemary, and some similar herbs also act as deterrents to these pests. Find your favorite combination and spray it throughout your carpet regularly to continue to keep fleas at bay.
As you can see, it is possible to protect your home and pets from nasty fleas. It's all about getting rid of the pests at the beginning and then using some natural repellents to make sure they don't come back. If you have some serious carpet problems that need immediate attention, feel free to give us a call at Niptuck Carpet Repair today.

How to Get Wax Out of Carpet
A beautiful bathtub setup after a long day can really be a lovely way to unwind. Candles, music, bath bombs. Or lighting a few candles before guests come over can freshen up the air as well as set a relaxed mood for the evening. Most of us enjoy lighting a candle every now and then. This only becomes a problem when we forget to monitor those candles closely enough. If you have ever gotten wax of any sort stuck in your carpet, you are aware of how difficult it can be to get out. If you are struggling with this, Niptuck Carpet Repair wants to help you out.
Step One
The first removal method is to simply scrape away the wax as much as you can once it has dried. You can just use a butter knife to get the job done. Afterwards, be sure to vacuum up any wax shards that have managed to sink into your carpet.
Step Two
Another method is to apply heat to the dried wax. Using a plain cloth or paper towel, cover the area. Next, grab your clothing iron and on its lowest setting, gently press over your towel. Move in circular motions to evenly distribute the heat. As the wax heats up, it will be absorbed into the towel. You can repeat the steps, as necessary. Make sure to use only plain cloths to avoid color or pattern transfers onto your carpet.
Step Three
Even if you have followed the above-mentioned steps, there may still be residual wax that is left behind. If that is the case, you can follow up with a proper carpet cleaner. Follow the manufacturer's instructions as they tend to differ from product to product.
If even after following all those removal methods you are still not satisfied with the results, give Niptuck Carpet Repair a call today! We specialize in carpet repairs and can simply replace your soiled area of carpet with a new piece. Good as new!

Should You Get Your Carpet Professionally Cleaned
Carpet is one of those things that you take for granted until you don’t have it anymore. While different forms of flooring like wood and tile look beautiful in the home, nothing can really replace what carpet does by way of look and feel. However, it can be expensive to have carpet replaced. With this in mind, you may wonder what the best way to maintain it is. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair wants to go through some basic steps that you can take on a weekly and yearly basis to keep your carpet looking beautiful.
Vacuuming
Vacuuming is essential when it comes to making sure that your carpet is clean. If you don’t do this regularly then you allow dirt and dust to get down into the fibers of your carpet. That doesn’t sound like that big of a deal but when you think about years of dust and dirt in your fiber calling the names of bugs, mites, and beetles, you might have second thoughts. Bugs like to eat on dust and dead skin cells so if you don’t want them then don’t give them a buffet to feast on.
Vacuum your carpet at the very least once a week. This will help to ensure that your carpet isn’t just clean but also prevents stains. What do we mean? Liquids love to grab onto the dust and dirt which makes it difficult to clean that stain up and out of your carpet. That means with just vacuuming you are doing your carpet a huge favor.
Carpet Cleaning
There are a number of different ways that you are able to go about cleaning your carpet. To save on money, you might be inclined to do it yourself. If you have pets, then you might want to invest in your own carpet cleaner in order to make sure that your carpet stays healthy and clean. Is this the best option for your carpet though?
In short, having your carpet professionally cleaned is always the best possible option. They know carpet front to back. Many carpet cleaners will have, not just the treatments that are needed in order to clean carpet, but they have the best tools in the business. There are different types of carpet cleaning like shampooing and hot water extracting. You can’t just do any type of cleaning on carpet. Take note too that professional carpet cleaners are able to not just do treatments but pre-treatments, deodorization, spot treatment, traffic lane cleaner, and more. It's obvious that you’ll definitely be getting your money's worth with a professional carpet cleaner. Getting it done once a year will help to extend the life of your carpet by years.
If you want your carpet to last for years to come, then make sure that you do these simple things for it. Granted there may be other things that happen with your carpet like wrinkles, tears, and permanent stains. That doesn’t mean that you have to give up on your carpet. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair offers services that take care of those mishaps and makes it look like they never even happened. Give us a call for a free estimate!

Should You Try and Patch Your Carpet Yourself
With the whole family being locked inside the house as of lately you might be trying to figure out ways to keep the commotion down while you are working from home. It is especially important if you need to keep everyone out of your working space. You might have a persistent pet trying to get in though. Whether you have a cat or dog, you have probably experienced one of the dreaded reactions your pet can have: digging on your carpet.
When it comes to cats, they love to stick their little paws under your door when they can’t get in the room to be in there with you. This can quickly cause carpet balding. You may not even realize it until you pop out of your office after a couple of hours. Upon finding, it you will probably be very upset and wondering what in the world can be done to fix the issue.
If you have a dog it will mean that your damage is probably a little worse because they do not just dig but they chew as well. When this is the case, they aren’t only damaging your carpet but oftentimes they are also pulling it up. This means that you’ll not only need a carpet patch but possibly a carpet stretch. If you’re in either of these situations, then you’ll need to find out what your options are.
Should you patch your carpet yourself? The honest truth is that you could go to your local hardware store and get what you need in order to do the patch. However, there are some serious factors that you need to consider. The first is that you are endangering yourself by going to a store. The second, is that the quality may not be very good, and you will want to have someone redo it for you in the end. The conclusion of this is that you might as well have a company that sanitizes everything before they do a project and follow all proper procedures we have put in place. Additionally, the work we do comes with a 5-year guarantee.
If you need your carpet repaired, then call us today! We would be happy to provide you with an estimate over the phone and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to ask us about the procedures we are taking to ensure the safety of us and all our customers!

Can You Patch Your Carpet Yourself
Many homeowners have their fuzzy little creatures at home with them during this difficult time. However, being cooped up at home can make your dog get a little crazy and cause some damage around the house. You might want to make sure that you have plenty for them to do, otherwise they might take it out on your carpet. If you don’t want to have to deal with a hole in your carpet, then you might want to think of some inventive ways to keep your dog occupied. Here are some of our best suggestions:
Take Your Dog for a Walk
When it comes to the Colorado shelter in place you will find that walking your dog is considered an exemption. This will allow your dog to get out some of his energy and help you when it comes to the mental aspects of having to stay in your home for days. Make sure that you walk where there aren’t a lot of people. Everyone may have the same idea so you may have to get creative when it comes to where you walk your dog. If that is even a little too risky for you then here are some other options for you to consider.
Your Backyard
If you don’t feel comfortable taking a step off your property, then you can always take shelter in your backyard. Sometimes all your dog may need is a little time with you throwing the ball. Take the time out of your day to make sure that you’re taking care of their needs. If all you can do is a 5- or 10-minute break, that will go a long way in helping your dog be calm while in the house.
Chew Toy
If you can’t get out to give your dog some exercise, then it might be best that you get a chew toy for them to focus on. This will help them to get out all their nervous energy in a constructive way instead of your carpet. A $30 toy is better than a $100-150 patch.
If your dog does get nervous and starts to take it out on your carpet, then you’ll want to make sure that you get it taken care of because of safety hazards. There is also the possibility that your dog might make it worse in the meantime and it ends up costing you more. You might be thinking that you can get the tools yourself at home depot and fix it yourself. That way you avoid people coming into your house. But think about the difference of exposing yourself to a crowd of people or to just one person. Whichever way you want to go about it is up to you. If you would like an estimate over the phone, give us a call today!

Frieze- The New Shag Carpet
The carpeting world is vast and can easily be confusing for a novice. Which considering the fact that most of us can count on one hand the number of times they have purchased new carpeting, almost all of us are novices. Depending on your budget and the things that you find important in carpeting, carpet preferences can differ wildly from person to person. That is why the team here at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair wants to simply provide you with information regarding different carpet styles so that you can make the best decision for you. Today we are going to review the pros and cons of frieze carpet.
What is Frieze
Frieze carpeting consists of long, twisted fibers. Fibers are twisted tightly, three to five times. This creates a dense texture. Extremely durable, frieze carpet is quite popular for high traffic areas and busy households. Because of the shag-like fibers, frieze is also terribly good at masking dirt. While not the most expensive, frieze is also not the cheapest of carpet options. Ranging on the low end from $1 per square foot, to on the high-end costing $8 per square foot.
Pros
Frieze carpet is highly durable. Its long-twisted fibers are much to thank. They do not easily show footprints, seams, or vacuum lines either, so your carpet will always look plush. Frieze does exceptionally well in almost any area of the home. It’s durable enough for the living room and stairs and is soft enough to greet your feet first thing in the morning in your bedroom.
Cons
Frieze has long and loose fibers. They feel lovely to walk on, but they can make it difficult to clean. This is because unlike short, tight piles, frieze fibers allow spills to soak deep into the carpet. For this reason, be sure to purchase a carpet with a high stain resistance. Another draw back for some may be the fact that frieze is relatively casual. It easily goes well with any interior, but if you prefer a more proper look, this carpet may not be right for you.
In conclusion, frieze carpet is an ideal choice for people who want a carpet that is durable, yet comfortable. We service all types of carpet. So, if yours ever needs a little TLC, be sure to give us a call! And for more insightful carpeting tips and tricks, be sure to check out the rest of our blog pages.

Signs Your Carpet is Beyond Repair
Carpet seems to be an understated luxury in the home. It's only when you don’t have it in your home anymore that you figure out it was wonderful beneath your feet when it was cold outside. Or that it was the one surface you could tolerate standing on when your feet and knees were killing you. Let’s not forget to mention the fact that it made the home look beautiful and inviting when you first walk into it. Overtime though, your carpet may not look as amazing as it did when you first installed it. When you have had it in your home for a number of years, you will have to decide whether you can get it spiffed up with a good cleaning and some repairs or if it's time to have it replaced. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair has seen a number of different carpets ranging many years. There have been times when we acknowledge that carpet is too old for us to work on and it’s best that it just be replaced. Here are some signs that will help you to decide whether or not you should replace or repair your carpet.
Does Your Carpet Stink?
When it comes to your carpet you want to make sure that it isn’t contributing to any health probably you may be experiencing. If your carpet is smelling, then there is something serious going on with it. There are a couple of different reasons why this may be happening. It may be due to the fact your fluffy pet is peeing on it. If this is the case, then you can easily have that repaired. We are able to cut out the piece of carpet, remove the pad, treat the subfloor, put new padding down and put a patch piece of carpet in.
If you have recently had any flooding and you haven’t pulled up your carpet and padding to let it dry out, then you may possibly have some mold growing underneath it. If you think that you have mold growing in your carpet, then new carpet is definitely something that you want to look into.
The Condition of Your Padding
Your carpet is as only as good as your carpet padding. Some say that you should have it replaced every 5 years. Of course, there are a lot of different variables when deciding this. It can be hard to tell without pulling your carpet back. You can typically feel how good your carpet padding is doing by walking on it. Notice if there are high and low spots. If there are and your carpet is still in good shape, then you can have just the padding replaced and your carpet re-stretched back over it. Here at Nip Tuck Carpet Repair we are able to do just that.
Increased Allergies
Have your allergies started to act up in recent years without let up and you’re not sure why? Well your carpet may be the culprit. Older carpet is great at catching and retaining allergens as well as other particulate matter. This can cause your allergies to act up. You may be able to fix this with a simple professional cleaning but if that doesn’t work then it is possible that you’ll have to take it a step further and have your carpet and pad replaced.
There are a number of things that Nip Tuck Carpet Repair can help with. Whether you need your carpet stretched, patched or repaired, we are the ones to call. Our work comes with a 5-year warranty. This way you don’t have to worry about whether you’re getting a quality job or not because we show that we stand behind the work that we do! Call us today if your carpet just needs a bit of repairing. It can make your carpet last many more years to come!

How to Patch Your Own Carpet
Do you suffer from scorched carpet, carpet dug up by pets, or stubborn carpet stains? You are not alone. The good news is that you do not have to live with these eyesores, and you do not have to spend a big chunk of money to get rid of them. At NipTuck Carpet Repair, patching carpet is one of our specialties. And today, we want to share with you how you can even patch your own carpet.
You can get a simple carpet patching kit online. If you do not have leftover carpet from the installation, just harvest a piece from the back of a closet or from an area where you will not notice the missing piece.
Imprint- Your patching kit should come with a round cookie cutter type device. Before adding the blade, take the cutter over to the area you want to patch and the area you are taking a patch from. Move your hand around the carpet and take note of the direction your carpet fibers stand up in. Then, make an imprint with your cutter by turning it a few times until it reaches the carpet backing.
Cut- Next, attach the blade and the pivot screw to your cutting tool. Line the cutter up with the outline you made previously. Then, apply steady even pressure to the area as you turn the tool a few times. Eventually you will hear a sort of pop, indicating you made it through the carpet. Be careful not to cut too far, however. As you do not want to cut through the carpet padding underneath.
Adhere the Patch- There will be an adhesive disk in the kit. Remove the protective backing and apply cool water to the disk. This will temporarily neutralize the glue. Then, slide the disk under the hole you made. When the glue becomes tacky again, press down firmly around the edges of the carpet. Next, apply a thin line of carpet-seam glue around the edges of your cutout. Note the direction your original carpet fibers stand up in. Be sure to match those up with your carpet patch as you then place it. Press firmly to bond it.
Blend- To make the patch as seamless as possible, take a star roller and move it around the patch. Roll it around in all different directions. This will blend the carpet fibers together. Lastly, be sure to allow your patch to dry for around a day before vacuuming or walking on the patch.
And that is it! It does not have to be difficult to make your own home improvements. Especially when there are kits equipped with everything you need to do the job. There are jobs that may be too big for a standard carpet patching kit, however. If you ever find yourself in that situation, call NipTuck Carpet Repair! We are trained in the latest carpet patching techniques and have professional equipment to provide you with results that will be enduring.

How to Protect Your Carpet from Ice Melt
As per usual in Colorado, winter has come in while fall is supposed to be here. If you were in one of the areas that got 14 inches of snow, then you’re feeling the effects. Snow means that there is going to be ice melt out to ensure your safety as you go about your day. This ice melt inevitably will get tracked into your home and can damage your carpet. This can be greatly distressing. Even if ice melt doesn’t get dragged into your home, the amount of snow that tends to come in can do just as much damage. How can you avoid this type of damage? As your professionals inCarpet Repair, Nip Tuck Carpet Repair wants to help you make sure that your carpet is healthy, so here are some of the best solutions:
Ice Melt
When it comes to ice melt there are several different solutions to make sure that these chemicals don’t get on your carpet. Typically, you can tell that this chemical has gotten on your carpet by the white markings that show up. There are certain cleaners that can be used to target the ice melt specifically in order to ensure it doesn’t permanently damage your carpet. However, you must be quick about making sure to clean these areas.
Snow
Snow can be dragged into the home very easily. You might not think that it can do much damage to your carpet but unfortunately it can. Too much moisture can cause mold to grow underneath. It can become a toxic hazard in your home without ever realizing it. This means that there needs to be some preventative measures taken.
The best preventative measures that you can take when it comes to ice melt and snow is simple, leave your shoes at the door. Get a rubber mat that can hold a reasonable number of shoes and make it a house rule that they must come off first before you can go any further. This is the best way to make sure that mold or stains won’t show up.
If you do have any stains or suspected mold in your carpet and padding then don’t worry, Nip Tuck Carpet Repair can help! We can remove the section of your carpet and padding if needed and replace it with a patch. This will allow your carpet to look just as beautiful as it was before. We are so good at what we do you won’t even be able to tell where the seams are. Give us a call today if you would like more information or to get a quote!

Why Carpet Wrinkles Need Fixing
Uh-oh, carpet wrinkles!
Carpet wrinkles are a common problem for many people, but this is more than an unsightly nuisance. Allowing carpet to stay wrinkled over time can result in lasting damage to the carpet and is also a dangerous tripping hazard. Delamination (separation between the layers of carpet backing) can also occur because of unaddressed carpet wrinkles, ruining a once-beautiful carpet.
What causes carpet wrinkles?
At Nip Tuck Carpet Repair in Denver, we repair carpet but do not install it. Some carpet installers do not stretch the carpet tight enough to the wall. Over time the carpet relaxes so to speak, and this creates wrinkles. Sad to say in many cases not all carpet is installed to the manufacturer’s specifications. What is the answer to this problem? Call Nip Tuck Carpet Repair, we do this every day.
Improper carpet installation can result in carpet that wrinkles after a very short time. If your carpet isn’t installed tightly enough, it can start to become wrinkled in high-traffic areas, or areas where furniture has been dragged across. When it was installed it looked great but after a little bit of usage wrinkles develop.
Preventing carpet wrinkles comes down to which tools are used to install it. The correct way to get a carpet stretched tightly to manufacturer’s specifications is to use a tool called a power stretcher. A power stretcher has long, sturdy steel rods that are able to stretch the carpet incredibly tight. However, using this tool is time consuming, so many times companies will use a knee kicker instead. Unfortunately, the knee kicker is not able to install the carpet tightly enough. Knee kickers have their uses but should not be the primary method of installing your carpet. This leaves you with a substandard installation that will probably require carpet repair to get rid of the newly developed wrinkles.
How can wrinkles be fixed?
If you are the unfortunate recipient of a bad carpet installation, don’t despair. Your carpet can be fixed by stretching and re-cutting your carpet properly, using a power stretcher. We here at Nip Tuck Carpet Repair have saved many carpets in the Denver area by taking the time to reinstall your carpet correctly. Our highest priority is a job well done, not saving money by cutting corners. This does mean though to retain that new carpet look you need to call us when you see the wrinkles develop and before wear patterns are established.
Often times our clients are shocked by how much excess carpet is removed once the carpet is stretched tightly. Don’t throw that extra carpet away because you never know when might need a carpet patch. This excess carpet will save you the hassle and money of matching your carpet to new carpet down the line. Not to mention, your carpet will look beautiful without any unsightly wrinkles. Proper installation means your carpet will wear correctly and look it’s best for years to come.

Signs You Might Have Carpet Beetles
Have you noticed balding spots in your carpet? Not only is this an eyesore, but it could also be one of the first signs of an even worse problem. An even grosser problem. It could be a sign of carpet beetles.
Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair has a lot of experience patching balding carpet. There are many ways it can come about. Years of chaffing from pieces of furniture can be one cause. If you do happen to have carpet beetles, however, we want you to be aware of what to look for and how to get rid of them, so that you can salvage your remaining carpet from their hungry appetites.
Bare Areas on Carpets and Rugs
As was noted before, one of the first things that may tick you off to the presence of carpet beetles may be bald spots on area rugs or on your carpet. These little bugs get their moniker from their affinity for munching on carpet fibers along with other types of clothing fibers. The larvae of these beetles are typically hidden in dark and concealed areas. Most people do not notice them given how small they are. However, if you have a rug suffering from these symptoms, give the under side a peek. You may be able to catch a glimpse of them there.
Damaged Wool Blankets or Clothing
Carpet beetles feed on all sorts of fibers, not just carpet. Wool products are also on the menu. These types of items are especially tempting if they have been soiled on and then stored without cleaning.
Shed Exoskeletons
As these beetles grow, they shed their skins. Take note of the little spaces in your home where pet hairs, dead insects, and other debris tends to collect unnoticed. This is likely a spot where you will find the shed skins of these beetles.
Check Windowsills and Walls
Come spring, adult beetles trapped in your house will be trying to make their way outdoors in order to mate. Since the light coming from your windows will serve as a beacon for them, look for tiny dead beetles lying on your windowsill. It is also likely that during this active stage for them, that you will be able to notice them climbing up your walls. Even as adults, they are quite small. If you see black dots on your walls, further inspect them with a magnifying glass.
If you are able to confirm that you have these little freeloaders, do not worry! They are actually rather common. Perhaps try bumping up your vacuuming and strive to really get into those hidden corners. Since these beetles also feed on crumbs or stored food, be careful not to let fallen crumbs and things to sit on your carpet too long. It may also be wise to hire a professional carpet cleaner to properly work out debris from deep in your carpets.
Once you have dealt with these pesky beetles, give us here at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair a ring! We are experts in carpet patching, so we can fix any bald spots you have suffered.

How to Repurpose Your Carpet
When it comes to carpet in your home it always has a life expectancy. When that is hit you have one of two options: either you can replace it with new carpet or replace it with another type of flooring. Regardless of which you choose you are left with a large amount of carpet that you don’t know what to do with other than trash it. However, there are several different uses for old carpet. Here are some of the major ways that you’re able to repurpose your old carpet.
While summer is the time when homeowners tend to replace their carpet, it is winter when you’ll need to replace an old piece of carpet. In Colorado, it is thoroughly known that we have winter snowstorms that you think you can get through. However, many cars tend to get stuck as they try and get out of their neighborhood. You’ll want to do yourself a favor and put a couple of carpet remnants in the back of your car for those winter days. That means you need to start planning now and make sure that you have set enough aside for when winter blows through again as it does every year.
Summer is known for when you hunker down and do housework and yard work. This means you’re getting up and down a lot, making your knees sore or even bruised. Knee pads can be expensive and awkward to use. You can save yourself a couple bucks and the hassle of wearing knee pads and save a piece of carpet the you can throw down whenever you need to. This will help to save your knees in the long run.
If you’re in need of a cheap scrubber, then think about using some old piece of carpet. These scrubbers are great for when you’re wanting to clean the window screens on your home. While they are gentle enough to not break the screen that provide enough rough material to get a good clean. There are many other uses for old carpet like an exercise mat, car mat, padding for the garage or kids play area.
While many homeowners feel that their carpet is in too rough of a shape to keep that isn’t always the case. Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair can bring your carpet back to life by removing stains that refuse to come out and straightening any wrinkles that are currently there. It is very rare that we ever tell a homeowner that their carpet has reached its limit. We can help you at a fraction of the cost to replace it. Call us today or fill out our online request form for a free estimate!

How Important is Your Pad
The carpet in your home, like anything else, needs to be maintained in order to keep it looking beautiful and healthy. Being flooring, it gets a lot of traffic and can be difficult to keep it looking as beautiful as it was when you first moved in. We want to help you understand the key to keeping your carpet healthy for many years to come. Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair has done many repairs on all types of carpets thus understanding the inner workings of how to best keep them in perfect condition. You might not realize it but how to keep it healthy begins before your carpet is even installed. What do we mean?
When it comes to your carpet, it is only as good as your padding is. This means that if there is anything that you want to splurge on you want it to be the carpet pad. Your carpet will only last if your padding does. This doesn’t mean that you want to go out and buy the thickest pad that you can find though. There is a sweet spot for the thickness of pad that you need for the specific carpet that you’re picking out. Once you find out what is the best thickness is for the carpet you have picked out, you’ll then want to research the best type of padding. There are many different types of padding. Each will have different benefits, so you’ll want to find one that is tailored to the needs of your family.
Once you get your carpet installed then you’re going to need to do some basic tasks that keep it looking beautiful. This includes vacuuming it at least twice a week. This is incredibly beneficial when spills happen, and spills will happen. Why does vacuuming help when spills happen? Dust and dirt settle in your carpet and when left there to continue to collect, a spill will latch onto that dust and dirt causing it to be more difficult to get out. So, vacuuming just twice a week can go a long way in making sure that the spills that are bound to happen will come out easier. What happens when stains won’t come out then?
Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair can remove those stains that refuse to come out. We preform services such as carpet patching, stretching, and repairs. If you’re in need of carpet repairs, then don’t hesitate to call us today or fill out our online request form. We can give you an estimate over the phone and get your carpet looking beautiful today!

However, the trouble is that not everyone has an extra piece of carpet laying around their home. When this is the case there is still a work around when it comes to making sure that your carpet looks perfect. We cut out a piece of carpet from your closet and then patch the spot where the damage is. Afterwards we then patch the spot in the closet using a piece of carpet you have picked out and bought that matches it closest to the carpet you currently have.
Stretching
You might have been able to live with the ripples in your carpet, but it won’t be a top seller when you put it on the market. It would therefore be advantageous to get your carpets stretched before any pictures or showings are done. We care about your carpet and ultimately the people who live on it. That is why we use a wall to wall power stretcher. This ensures that the carpet will get a tight pristine stretch that will remain tacked down. Snow and Your Carpet
As we all know, Denver gets a lot of snow and most of the snow comes in spring. This leaves us with drastic weather changes that makes us feel like Colorado is a bit bipolar. That being said, when snow storms come in the spring and then leave no trace of them the following day by 4pm, you're left with wet muddy surfaces that are just waiting to be tracked into your home. Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair has seen the effects that the Colorado snow has brought upon homeowners’ carpet. The wear and tear of snow can leave many people feeling like their carpet will inevitably need to be replaced. We can help if you are feeling like your carpet is on the brink of destruction. Having repaired many homeowners carpet in the Denver Metro Area, we are capable of helping to bring your carpet back to life. Let's talk about preventative measure when snow hits.
The first line of defense to helping keep your carpet in good condition is to vacuum it regularly. Stains are more likely to appear and become harder to remove when it isn’t vacuumed regularly. This is due to the dust and dirt that settles in your carpet fiber, causing the stain to grab hold of the dirt and dust. To eliminate this the simple remedy is to vacuum your carpet regularly. We are talking at least once to twice a week.
After this you will then want to take the next step and invest in a rubber shoe tray. Make it a mandatory requirement to first wipe the snow of your shoes at the front door and then remove them. As we all know there are going to be a couple of exceptions. How many times have we forgotten something and are running late so we quickly run back in and run back out not even thinking about what we just tracked in? Needless to say, we have all done that. When that happens you’re going to want to do a spot treatment as soon as you’re able to. The longer a stain sits, it settles into your carpet, and the harder it is going to be to get it out. The spot treatment is going to depend on the type and color of your carpet. Make sure to do research before you put anything on your carpet. Generally you will be safe with warm soapy water.
Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair has seen a lot of different type of stains on carpet and we have always been able to make your carpet look like new. If you have an unruly stain then don’t hesitate to call us today! Or you can fill out an online request form. We are able to give you an estimate over the phone and get you scheduled quickly!

How to Keep Your Carpet in Good Condition
When it comes to carpet there are number of things that you need to consider when it comes to the maintenance side of carpet. We want the best for your carpet. To keep it looking in pristine condition you will need to spend some time each week to ensure this. Here are the steps that you will want to follow to make sure that your carpet doesn’t just show its original color underneath your couches that you have had in the same spot for years.
The first step in ensuring that your carpet will keep the same look and feel as the day that it was installed is by vacuuming it regularly. This means at least once a week. While we should be doing that anyways, it’s always a good reminder. if you can do it twice a week, even better. This allows for dirt and grime to be picked up leaving less chance of stains when something spills. If you do get a spill though you want to clean it up right away. The longer the spill remains on the carpet the more of a chance it has of becoming a permanent stain.
If you want the best results when it comes to your carpet, then many professional cleaners recommend that you have it professionally cleaned at least once a year. In doing so, you become proactive to the greatest degree of making sure that your carpet remains in perfect condition. Not all professional cleaners are alike though. There are some that cause a residue to be left on the carpet. This just sets it up for stains to be had because the liquid will latch onto the residue and cause it to be extremely hard to get out. So, make sure that you do your research before picking a professional carpet cleaner.
Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair isn’t a carpet cleaning company, but we are able to help you with permanent stains, tears, balding and ripples in your carpet. We provide you with superior service. Call us today to get a quote over the phone or send in an online request! We would love to help bring your carpet back to life.

Reviving Your Carpet
Over the years carpet gets matted down in high foot traffic areas. This can date your carpet even though other areas in the home are in perfect condition. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair wants to help you with all your carpet repair needs. We are all about getting your carpet back to looking beautiful again. Our specialties are carpet patching and carpet stretching. More than that though we have years of knowledge being in the carpet industry. Here are some of the best tips and tricks to help you revive your matted down carpet!
The easiest way to fluff your carpet back up to its original beauty is by getting a damp cloth and iron. Prep the area first by vacuuming it a couple of times. Then get a damp cloth that is bigger than the iron itself. Place the cloth down on the area and then put the hot iron on top of the cloth. Make sure to keep the iron only on the cloth itself. If it touches the carpet at all, even just for a second, you’re going to have some burn marks left over. Make sure that if you’re doing this process to a large area then you’re going to want to make sure you keep your cloth nice and damp throughout the process.
If such an area is in need of cleaning, then always try to go the natural way first. There are a lot of different types of natural solutions that can be applied to your carpet but among the many solutions baking soda and vinegar can help revive your carpet pile and do a great job with spot cleaning. Put baking soda on the area and scrub it in with a brush. Be sure to watch how you scrub your carpet though. If you scrub it in the wrong direction this can cause damage to the carpet pile. You can mix an essential oil with that baking soda to help with any smells. Let it sit over night and then vacuum it up in the morning. Then mix equal parts water to vinegar and apply it to the area and let it dry. This will help to revive your carpet even more so leaving you with carpet pile that looks like the rest or your untouched carpet.
If you have carpet wrinkles and stains that you can’t get out of your carpet that is when Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair is able to get in there and save the day. Your carpet should be able to last for many years. If it’s looking like it needs a pick me up, then call us today! We can fix any holes and damages you may have.

How to Choose the Best Carpet for Your Home
The look and feel of your home is important! As the years go by though your carpet can lose the look and feel it once had. You might be looking into buying new carpet for your home. However, there is just one problem, how do you know what’s the correct carpet for your home? There are so many different types of carpet that makesit is hard to know what you’re really looking at and what is going to stand the test of time. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair has repaired various types of carpet and we see the ins and outs of what makes and breaks the look and feel of your carpet.
The most important factor to consider when picking out your carpet isn’t the carpet but the padding underneath which is most important. This will be the make or break of your carpet over the course of time. If you get cheap padding, then your carpet isn’t going to last very long. That doesn’t mean you then go out and get the most expensive or thickest padding. If you go that route it can be just as damaging to your carpet. When you pick out your carpet the manufacturer will provide the buyer with the optimal padding for it. So, then what is the best carpet?
The best carpet for you is dependent on what your home life is like. Carpet has distinct aspects to it that vary in carpet style and grade. Knowing what the room is going to be used for and if there will be high traffic or the center of activity it is. Another important questions to answer is if the room as direct access from outside. The answer to such questions will help the dealer to know what is going to be best for your home.
The next thing that you need to consider is what the size of the room will be and what your aim is regarding the look of it. Do you want the room to look bigger or smaller? Cozier or formal? Also, what are the lighting conditions of the room? Considering all these aspects will determine what will be the better color of your carpet, light or dark. No one can say for sure because it is up to your tastes and preferences, not anyone else’s.
There are some brands that will be better than others. This is going to take careful research and review reading. The next time you’re looking at new carpet make sure to have the answers to these important questions. Remember that getting the correct padding is the make or break of your carpet over the course of time. This can be expensive as it all starts to add up. However, if you don’t have the money to get new carpet but are wanting it to look new again then call Nip Tuck Carpet Repair today. We preform carpet patching and stretching to make sure that your carpet look as if nothing ever happened.

The Process of Carpet Stretching
Carpet stretching is a common solution that many home buyers go with when it comes to getting wrinkles in your carpet. If you’re wondering how that happens then don’t worry, we will go over that as well. If you keep randomly tripping over your carpet out of nowhere then it’s time to get your carpet stretched back to its original beauty. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair wants to help you by explaining the process as well as why it happens.
The Process
This can be a bit complicated, but it really isn’t, there are a couple of different machines that we use to stretch your carpet. The one that we most commonly use is the power stretcher pipes. This type of stretching machine uses the walls on opposite ends of each other with pipes going the length of the room and pushing off on the wall to tighten the carpet. This means that there needs to be a pathway from one end of the wall to the other. We stretch your carpet both directions making sure that there are no wrinkles left and that they won’t come back.
What can you do to get your home ready to have you carpet stretched? The first way that you can get the room you’re wanting to get stretched ready is by removing at least 50% of the furniture in the room. There needs to be a clear space for the pipes to reach from one end of the room to the other. You’ll need to do this for both directions. In addition to making sure that there is a clear path between walls you’ll want to make sure that you remove any valuables that might be on any tables and in any display cabinets.
The Why
The question is why does it happen in the first place? You have had beautiful carpet for years and then all of a sudden it seems you’re tripping in your home out of nowhere. There are a couple of reasons why this happens all of switch you can’t help. One of the reasons why wrinkles happen is that it was not properly installed. When it isn’t stretched properly during installation it can begin to loosen causing the carpet to buckle.
However, there is also another factor that may cause this to happen and that would be humidity. When you live in a climate that is highly humid this will cause your carpet to swell making it buckle. This can be unfortunate if it happens. In some cases when the humidity returns to normal so does the carpet and you don’t have to do anything to get the wrinkles out. However, there are other reasons that can cause ripples which as well might include incorrect padding and dragging heavy items across the carpet.
Wrinkles, ripples, and buckles in your carpet is not anything that you want your home to have in it especially if you have little kids that can easily trip and hurt themselves or older ones that can easily break a hip. Therefore, call the professionals today! We warranty our work and make sure that those wrinkles never come back again. Call us today for a free home estimate!

How to Take Care of Outdoor Rugs
Outdoor rugs are a favorite when creating the perfect outdoor space to come home to and relax. This can cause a lot of problems though when the rug isn’t kept cleaned and maintained. We all love our perfect outdoor space be it on the deck, in the back, or on the porch in the front. These types of rugs are made so that they don’t grow mold on them. So, what is there to maintain? Spring is a very wet month and this means that other things such as furniture cushions and rugs are going to get wet. Furniture cushions are easy enough to remove and stow away when you start to see the rain clouds coming. Rugs are a different story though. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair may be your specialist in carpet repair, but we also know a thing or two about rugs. Here is how and why you should maintain your rugs.
Rugs obviously lay on the ground which is the prime spot for water to hit and while it may not grow mold on it, it can grow algae and mildew. No one wants to step on a rug full of dirt, mildew, and algae. So, the best solution is to clean it monthly. It’s easy to clean the rug, it just takes a little bit of effort. Cleaning the rug with a bucket full of water and some dish soap will do the trick. Once you get the needed bucket with water it’s time to take a nylon brush and scrub away. You’ll want to do this to the front and back of the rug and then rinse it on the sloped drive way with a hole. You’ll want to make sure that you do it on a sunny day.
Drying it with the sun will prevent mold, mildew, and algae from growing on it. Although outdoor rugs are made in a way to prevent mold from ever growing on them they aren’t mold proof. So, drying them in the sun is the best way from preventing mold from ever growing on it. This means that when there is a hard rain, although it might not be convenient, it’s best to pull it up and let it dry in the sun if it’s covered. This can be difficult if you have furniture on it but well worth the effort.
However, if you’re seeing some things on your outdoor rug and don’t really have the time to clean it you can do some spot cleaning. While your rug should be cleaned monthly it can have spot cleaning done to it. The most natural way to spot clean is by taking a bottle with part water and part vinegar solution and scrubbing it. This will give you the best solution that still allows for little ones to play on it.
Nip Tuck Carpet and Repair is all about helping you to maintain your home whether it’s your carpet inside or outside. If you have carpet repair needs, then it’s time to call us and make your carpet like new again! We can take care of carpet stretching and patching needs of any size. Picking the Right Rug for Your Home
Cold weather seems to always bring about cold feet when you’re walking through the house unless you’re walking on carpet but it’s seldom that the whole house is carpeted. Rugs act as a good insulator for your home. They help to keep your home warmer by causing reducing the heat loss in your home that often happens through the floors because of a lack of insulation. Rugs can be a good solution for the common problem of cold feet. There are many different rug types though. We want to make sure that you get the best kind for you and your family.
Machine Made Rugs
These are the type of rugs that you will be able to find almost anywhere… even in your friend’s home. They tend to be made with a synthetic material and sometimes with wool. There isn’t much to them other than the material they are made of and the machine that makes it. This makes them more or less in the price range of most. However, if your price range is higher, then it’s always good to go with a real hand knotted rug. The reason for this being the fact the machine rugs are cheap and hard to repair. Additionally, they don’t have any value for a future time. One way that you can tell it is a machine-made rug is that it has perfect dimensions.
Handmade Rugs
These are incredibly durable rugs that are beautifully made. Their value sticks with them no matter how much time goes by. They last for generations. There are many different kinds of handmade rugs with them varying in how good their quality is and the value of them. Here are a few of them:
- Hand Tufted – Made of wool on a canvas type material, glued on back with an added canvas on the back to give a finishing look.
- Hand hooked – These rugs are looped and then glued on the back to hold it in place.
- Hand loomed – Is made on a loom with material weaved together. This when done right can last up to 10 years.
- Hand Knotted – This is a canvas backing made up of a million little knots. This is the highest quality of the handmade rugs.
Picking out the best type of rug for your family can be hard. There is a lot to consider. The biggest of which can often be the budget you have. Research what will be the best rug for your family. There is a lot of benefits to having rugs in your home especially on tile and wood flooring. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair is your leading team to help you with all your carpet needs. Winter Carpet Care
In your home, no doubt you have carpet in one place or another. Carpet helpsthe home to feel nice and homey however there is also a lot of maintenance that need to be done in order to keep our carpet looking and feeling beautiful. The cold weather brings us the wonderful seasons of fall and winter. Seasons such as these seems to be wet and brought into the home with mud, leaves, and other unwanted items. Your carpet can tend to see the wear and tear of the wet and snow that the kids and pets bring in. There are a few carpet maintenance items that are in order to keep your carpet looking beautiful not just through the winter but throughout the years. Keeping up with your carpet will provide the best looking carpet in the long run in any home.
Prevent What You Can
Prevention is the best solution to any probable problem. If you can eliminate the problem from happening in the first place, wouldn’t you? I think most of us would. About 80 percent of what you don’t want in your carpet is track in form outside. That says a lot! So what can you do? Taking the time and expense to get rugs for both inside and outside the home is a good idea. This will help if you have to walk through your home with your shoes on. The best and most efficient way to eliminate this problem though is to keep it at the door with the shoes. Creating or buying a shoe rack or storage place to put your shoes when you come in is the best way to stop the dirt and grim from outside coming into your home and on your carpets.
Clean Throughout the Months
Even though you’ve got the shoes stopped at the door doesn’t mean that your carpets won’t need to get cleaned. Fall and winter brings the family together in the home to play games and watch movies together more than they would in the warmer months. This means that your carpet is getting more use then it normally would otherwise. So there are going to be spill, crumbs and the like as the time goes by. Remember that night that you made cookies for the kids because it just seemed like a cookie and hot chocolate kid of night? Well all of those crumbs are now sitting in the fibers of your carpet. Crumbs, hair, and sticky spills attract and hold more dirt in your carpet. Cleaning your carpets before winter comes helps to prevent the hold fibers have on dirt making stop cleaning a easy thing to do during the months that you’re on your carpet the most. Spot cleaning and frequent vacuuming during the winter is ideal.
Clean So You Don’t Have to Clean
Huh? What does that even mean? Most of the time we have to trudge through the snow and then after doing so we stop right onto our porch that has dirt, leaves and other debris from the wind that then attaches to our boot. We then give them a nice rid into our warm home. To prevent having to clean your carpets from these little guys its best to take a broom to the porch and garage so that there is no way you’ll give them a free ride on your shoes.
Fall is a wonderful season full of beauty and color. Winter paints our life in a perfect and tranquil white that lets us know when the bunnies have crossed our yard. Remove Dents on Your Carpet
When people move into their home many times they set their furniture in place and then it doesn’t get moved until people move out and into their next home. However, this often leaves dents in rugs and carpets. Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair understands the frustration that can bring, especially if you’re just wanting to rearrange the furniture around the house. The carpet experts are here to help you with all your carpet problems. We will discuss three main ways you can use to get those dents out of your carpet.
- Ice Cubes
This is probably the easiest way to get rid of dents in your carpet. Leave a couple of ice cubes on the dented spot and then let it sit for at least 4 hours and for bigger dents up to 12 hours. The water then allows the carpet fibers to swell and bring it back to its original height. Then after you have let it sit for the desired period of time blot it with a towel or sponge. After you have gotten the water excess up then make sure to take a coin or the like to raise the suppressed fibers.
- Blow Dry It
If ice cubes aren’t working then try to blow dry it. Meaning take a spray bottle and douse the area with water. Then take a blow dryer to add volume to the carpet fibers. As you do so make sure to fluff up the fibers like you do your hair. Running your hands through it like you do your hair should do the trick.
- Iron it Out
The last option is to iron it out. In doing this you must be careful. When carrying out this operation you will want to place a damp towel over the dent and then carefully iron it on medium heat. When doing so take extra care to not let the iron touch the carpet. This will burn it and leave you with bigger problems than you started with. Once you have done this you’ll be all good to run the vacuum over it to make it look pretty and like the rest of your carpet.
Dents don’t have to stay there just like you don’t want your furniture to stay there. Taking a moment to get those dents out of the carpet will leave it look beautiful again. Nip and Tuck Carpet Repair cares about your carpet. Making sure that your carpet is in tip top shape is our job. For more serious carpet repair jobs, call the professionals today! We are able to repair torn and ripped carpet. In addition to this we can repair balding spots, urine spots, and permanent stains.

Dogs Digging on Your Carpet
Nip Tuck Carpet Repair sees a lot of different carpet that has been damaged, many of them being from pets. Both cats and dogs can give you trouble regarding your carpet. Dogs tend to chew carpet, pee in the same spots, and what we are discussing in this article, they can dig. What causes a dog to dig though? These tips will help you be able to properly stop your dog from digging into your carpet and therefore stop the damage he is doing to your carpet.
- Too Hot or Too Cold?
Dogs behave off instinct because they are animals. Other members of the dog family, like wolves, dig dens that will help to shelter their babies from weather and harsh elements. This den would help them to keep warm from the cold and to cool off from the summer heat. This lends itself to why your dog might be digging into your carpet. Put simply they could be too hot or cold. So, when this happens try to understand what your dog’s needs are.
- Bored much?
Some dogs tend to rip up pieces of carpet just because they are bored. If this is the case for your dog then it is advantageous to get your dog some toys or chew bones that he can have during the day while you’re gone. This will help to put his mind and energy on other things rather than your yummy carpet. Another thing that you can do is get a stuffed animal that you sleep with at night. The stuffed animal will then begin to smell like you and quickly become his favorite toy if you’re the person they bonded with.
- When are you going to be home?
Another reason that your beloved dog might be doing this is because of separation anxiety. The stuffed animal that I mentioned above will help with this. There are also other things that can help such as thunder shirts. These help with fear and anxiety by applying the right pressure in the right place on your dog’s torso.
There are many reasons as to why your dog may be digging into your carpet. These are just a few. It’s best to find out what the reason is for your dog’s behavior and then take the appropriate action. Nip Tuck Carpet Repair cares about your carpet and wants to help you keep it in the best condition possible. We hope that this helped in stopping or preventing damage to your carpet! If you do have damaged carpet from your beloved animal don’t hesitate to call us today for an estimate to get it repaired!

When those accidents happen on the carpet many times the urine has been absorbed through the carpet and saturated the pad underneath. This especially happens when the pet goes to the same spot each time. Pets are creatures of habit. Our technicians at Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair can replace the bad pad before finishing the carpet patch. This is important because a new pad underneath the carpet will help do two things: 1) take away the bad musty urine smell and 2) take away the bad sanitary conditions underneath your carpet.
Call Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair today at (303) 669-3921 to receive a free quote! For a quick and easy quote over the phone please have ready the approximate size of the pet damage on your carpet and in just a few short minutes your quote range will be ready!

Is It Worth It to Rent Carpet Repair Tools
In the Denver Metro Area there are many issues that you may have with your carpet. Do you have wrinkles in your carpet, a pet who chewed on or tore a hole in an area, or possibly some flood damage? To repair any of these yourself, you may need to take a trip to the store to either rent or buy some tools and supplies. But is this worth it?
Cost of Carpet Repair Tool Rental (Denver Metro Area)
Pricing on carpet repair tools can vary depending on where you go. If you shop around you can find a power stretcher for approximately $30-35/ day. For a toolbox with the carpet repair tools that you will need, it will run approximately $20/day. This total would run around $50/day. If you can fix your carpets in a day this may be a very viable option. For a smaller project (2-4 rooms stretched) it would cost $100-300 to hire a professional, so the savings to do it yourself may be worth it.
Is Carpet Repair Difficult?
The answer to this is really dependent on your construction background and factors that can make the job complex. If you have the ideal circumstances such as raised trim, typical latex carpet backing (not stiff), and a plush (not berber) carpet, then you may very well be able to manage the project. With that being said, you could run into issues that put this kind of project over your head. When it comes to seam work, it really depends on your expectations. Realistically if you want a seam that is nearly invisible, leave it to the professionals. QSeams really take a good skill set to accomplish. So in the end some carpet repair projects may be simple, but others not so much.
Conclusion
If you would like to accomplish that project yourself and save money, renting tools may be an option. It really depends on your skill set, difficulty of carpet repair project, your expectations, and your time. You can save $50-150 on a small project, so it may be worth it. Of course, if you want the best possible results, it’s advisable to call a professional in the Denver Metro Area.

My Cat Keeps Urinating in the Same Spot
One of the most common issues that we run into as carpet repair technicians is pet damage. Sometimes the problem is a cat that keeps returning to urinate on the same spot of carpet time and time again. What the heck causes them to act this way? And what can be done to prevent it?
URINATING KITTY
You love Mr. Biggles and would never want to have to give him up over something such as potty issues. We understand that. Of course always thoroughly clean and disinfect the area affected. If any odor is left behind this will be the biggest cause for his return. Try to identify whether your cat is spraying (marking it's territory) or full on urinating in this favorite location of his. If you find that the cat is simply spraying (a little sprinkle) try to make it feel more secure in it'sterritory. In a multi-cat household the cat may feel the need to be possessive over these areas. It may help to provide separate living quarters for the felines.
LITTER BOX BLUES
Ask yourself if you have recently switched to a different litter, or changed the location of the litter box. These factors could contribute to your cat no longer wanting to use the litter box. If more than one cat is living together adding a litter box may help to prevent this issue. If he is an only child, perhaps trying out a new litter box will do the trick. Always make sure you regularly clean the box and change the litter as cats are clean animals by nature. If these attempts fail to work, you may want to try placing the litter box on top of the area he keeps returning to. After he gets in the habit of going in his litter box again, gradually over the next few days start moving it back to the location you would like the litter box to be.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS
If these pointers don't resolve things make an appointment to visit your veterinarian. You will want to make sure your cat doesn't have any medical conditions that would contribute his potty issues. The vet will be able to test for any urinary tract infections or kidney problems.
We understand that you don't want to have us come patch an area of carpet and pad just to have your cat piddle on it again after we leave. Try to figure out what can be done to prevent this before we come out. Just because kitty has stopped urinating in that spot doesn't mean you don't need to have the area patched. Frequent urination in one location will soak into the pad and can cause lasting odors, damage, and health problems.

Double spike stretcher vs power stretcher pipes
There are two types of power stretchers that can be used for proper carpet stretching. One is called a “double spiked power stretcher”. This tool grips onto the subfloor to tighten the carpet. The second stretcher is a “pipe power stretcher”. This tool includes pipes that extend the length of a room and push off of a wall or pillars to tighten the carpet. There are pros and cons for each of these items. In this post we will examine the advantages and disadvantages of each stretcher.
Double Spike
Pros
- Furniture: With a “double spike stretcher” we do not need to extend pipes from wall to wall. This results in furniture being less of an issue. We can often work around the furniture to stretch with this tool.
- Speed: Without the need for moving furniture around, stretching with the double spike becomes much quicker.
- Stretches Adequately: Unlike the commonly used knee kicker, this machine properly stretches the carpet.
- No Walls: This tool grabs onto the subflooring underneath the carpet and uses this as leverage for the stretch. That means there is no need to worry about damaging a wall.
Cons
- Although it is rare there is a possibility that the “double spike stretcher” leave a mark in the carpet. If it does, we always make sure to repair those areas.
- Some installers have abused this tool in the past and this has caused voids on certain carpet warranties.
- We cannot use a double spike with cement subflooring.
Power Stretcher Pipes
Pros
- Still Does a Great Job Stretching: We always emphasize any type of stretcher over a knee kicker whenever possible.
- No Carpet Punctures: Since this power stretcher uses the walls as leverage there is no risk of leaving puncture holes in your carpet.
Cons
- Although rare, pipes have the possibility of pushing into unsupported walls or damaging trim. We cannot assume responsibility for damage to unsupported walls.
- All furniture needs to be removed from the room due to needing access to the walls.
- Setting up the pipes and moving around furniture is more time consuming then using the double spike stretcher.
- Since this power stretcher needs to push directly off of a wall it cannot be used on stairs, rooms with odd angles, or against railings.
When it comes to stretching our technicians will choose the best method to meet your needs. Our goal is to get the job done efficiently without sacrificing the quality of the stretch. We back our work with a 5 year guarantee. This can leave you assured that whichever power stretcher we use, your carpet will be stretched properly and you will not have to worry about wrinkles in your future.

Can you stretch carpet with furniture in the room
The good news is in most instances we can stretch a room with furniture present. There are some specific situations that pose more of a problem than others. How much furniture, the size and weight of the furniture, and the layout of the ripples all play a factor. Here are some scenarios to help you determine if your furniture will pose a problem or not:
The Process
When stretching a room, we typically will stretch away from doorway and to a wall parallel to the wrinkles. The power stretcher is forceful enough to pull carpet even with furniture of moderate weight in the room. Once the technician was chosen the wall to stretch towards he will pull up the carpet from the tackstrip against that wall, stretch the carpet, reattach it to the tackstrip and trim and tuck. Stretching in this manner ensures the carpet will remain tight in spite of foot traffic, cleanings, and other wear.
Moving the Furniture
As a general rule the room needs to be 50% void of furniture in order to stretch the carpets properly. We need to have enough open space in a room to slide furniture around to gain access to the wrinkles and the wall we are stretching to. A room jam packed with furniture causes this to be an impossible feat. Although we would be happy to remove excess furniture from a room if need be, there is typically an extra fee for those services. Any knick knacks or breakables should be removed from furniture and to a safe location as well as electronics should be unplugged. We do not want to risk breaking these items while attempting to maneuver around them.
Large Furniture
Big pieces of furniture such as heavy exercise equipment, larger fish tanks, and full size pool tables can be tricky to work with. Although the power stretcher can function with pieces like couches and beds, these heavier items may cause the carpet to rip when stretched. In those instances we are usually capable of partially stretching the room to avoid those furniture items. This would involve more work and at times a seam is necessary. We cannot always guarantee a partial stretch so we highly recommend removing these objects from the area beforehand if possible.
If you have concerns as to whether or not your furniture would be an issue, don’t hesitate to give us a call. Contact us today to get those problem wrinkles out!

Is the Carpet Patch Visible
When your carpet needs to be patched due to pet damage, stains, etc. it may be a dilemma whether to patch it or not. How will the patch look? Will the patch stay over time especially with a carpet cleaning? Questions like these can make it difficult to decide whether to patch the carpet or just replace it.
How will the patch look?
There are many factors that weigh into the quality and look of a seam. The biggest factor is whether or not a piece of carpet from a closet or remnant piece will match. Due to sun fade and wear, the piece that is patched in may look newer then the original worn carpet. The best way to have an idea of what the results will be would be to take a remnant piece and set it next to the area that needs to be patched. Now of course, if you are willing to wait a few years for the patched portion of carpet to blend in with the original, this may not be as big of an issue.
As far as the seam work, the seam should be just slightly noticeable to invisible depending on the carpet. If you do see the seam because of the color difference, it could be likened to a tan line on your skin. Although there is no seam, there appears to be a line because of the color difference. In most cases, our seam work exceeds the customers expectations.
How much will a patch cost?
Pricing depends on how large the patch is. For a smaller patch you can plan on $40-60, whereas a larger patch can cost $100-200. If there are several patches, usually the cost per patch will decline.
Conclusion
Whether or not it is worth it to patch carpet or not depends on your circumstances and needs. How long you are willing to wait for a patch to blend in and what your expectations are will have a bearing on your decision. You can always play it safe and replace carpet, but repairing carpet is usually a much more cost-effective option.
